Our programmes include treks on Turkey’s first long distance walk around Lycia, two week treks in the Kackar mountains and a thrilling ascent of Mt Ararat. We also offer a one-week trekking programme in Cappadocia and Crimson mountains.

Between Europe and Asia, in the centre of a vast plateau where once primitive man hunted, is Cappadocia. In vast moonscapes of eroded rock, Turkey’s ancient heart still beats a timeles rhythm. Underground cities were once havens for the hunted. Chambers hollowed in fairy chimneys are decorated with primitive religious frescoes, darkened by centuries of candlelight and defaced by invading hordes who once swept out of Asia.

Middle Earth is here. The tiny town of Göreme, where pigeons still are housed in lofts carved in the valley walls, where lemons fill the cellars, where the harvest of grapes rolls home in horse-drawn carts, is the centre of our world. Around the rim of the plateau are snowcapped mountains, extinct volcanoes, summer yaylas and hidden valleys. Middle Earth’s aim is to enable you to trek through these landscapes of Turkey.

Our programmes include a number of one- or two-day options around Cappadocia, treks on Turkey’s first long distance walk around Lycia, two week treks in the Kaçkar mountains and a thrilling ascent of Mt Ararat, the huge snowy cone where Noah’s ark still is buried under the glaciers. We also offer a one-week trekking programme in Cappadocia, or a combination of a few days in Cappadocia and a longer trans of the Aladağlar, or Crimson mountains.

Under development is a new long distance walking route around Turkey’s Lake District and this will be followed by exciting new treks in the Cilo Sat mountains of Turkey’s south east, now being reopened after years of restricted access.
