During the summer, Cortona hosts numerous activities including festivals, art exhibitions, antique markets, and a number of gastronomic fairs.The surrounding countryside offers stunning views, many walking trails, hundreds of miles of country roads for bicycling or car touring and swimming at Lago Trasimeno.

Vacation Rental Property

The Il Rifugio property is comprised of a seventeenth century stone farmhouse and 56 acres of private land. The house is situated on the edge of a centuries old olive grove located above the village of Montanare in the community of Cortona. Cortona is a hilltop Etruscan town with a rich history that is nearly 3000 years old. Some historians think that Cortona may be one of Europe's first organized cities. Cortona is just 10 minutes away by car. The master bedroom has a fixed double bed with a private dressing room and a large in suite bathroom with a tub and separate shower. The other bedroom with a fixed double bed has an in suite bathroom with a shower. The other two bedrooms have two single beds that can be configured as double beds if necessary and share a bathroom with an in tub shower. The kitchen is large with a separate pantry and a fireplace ideal for grilling meats and vegetables. There are two sitting rooms, upper and lower, with a fireplace in the upper sitting room. There is a formal dining room that seats 12 and the living room has a large fireplace. In addition to the three upstairs bathrooms there is a small down stares bathroom.

The house at Il Rifugio has a total of 11 rooms and 4-1/2 bathrooms. There are 5 bedrooms, a kitchen with separate walk-in pantry, two sitting rooms, a formal dining room, living room and 3 fireplaces. It will comfortably sleep 10/12 people. Ten in the five bedrooms, 2 in day beds; one in the living room where the large fireplace is and one in the lower sitting room.

Services Offered

Utilities are included in the rental price except for telephone charges, which will be deducted from the security deposit at the end of the stay. Of course the house is completely cleaned with fresh towels, soap, bed linens and basic supplies. Additional maid service during the week can be arranged at a minimal cost. Additional services, such as private tours, dinners, wine or olive oil tasting, etc., can be pre arranged at the time of booking.

Policies & Restrictions

Please, no smoking inside the house. Camping on the grounds of the property is prohibited. For the safety of the animal and guests, domestic animals must not be brought to the property.

Rates & Availability

From the first Saturday in April through the first Saturday in May $5,500.

From the second Saturday in May through the second Saturday in October Swimming pool open) $6,000.

From the third Saturday in October through the last Saturday in Dcember $5,500.

There is also a $300 refundable security deposit.

Other Information

Il Rifugio is the perfect location for a large or extended family vacation, small group special interest workshop, retreat, or simply a romantic getaway. The property offers the ultimate in privacy and is rented complete to individual parties. There are no apartments or nearby neighbors.
