Description of Sailboat

Imagine stepping aboard a 46-foot 1939 classic wooden racing yacht for a breathtaking sail on Maine’s Penobscot Bay. Your sailing adventure is just beginning. Maine has some of the world’s best sailing and Gafia Sailing Charters offers all inclusive sailing packages for those seeking maximum exposure with maximum comfort. Sail during the day with home baked goodies, coffees, select teas and snacks. For lunch we have homemade soup, fresh baked bread, sandwiches and beverages of choice. As we pass light houses and deserted islands, we see the timelessness of Maine. As the day slips away we take sea legs ashore for dinner on the town or if a lobster bake or a 5 course gourmet meal is more to your liking those come as part of our all-inclusive sailing packages. After dinner unwind and spend the evening in a world class bed and breakfast. After a great night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast you will once again board ViVA for another exciting day of sailing Maine. Gafia Sailing Charters offers all inclusive 1 to 5 day packages.

Destinations

Belfast, Castine, Eggemoggin Reach, Camden, Rockland, Warren Island, Islesboro, Holbrook bird sanctuary, Butter Island, Searsport, Deer Isle/Stonington, Light houses - to name a few destinations we can visit.

Typical Day

Depart Belfast harbor 10 am and head out across the bay, watch osprey and eagles as they look for a morning snack, seals and porpoise pass as we round "turtle-head", the craggy lands end of Islesboro. We anchor just off Holbrook Island, go ashore for a gourmet style picnic lunch. Here we are treated to breath-taking views across meadows filled with wild flowers. The beach and inner island trails offer an exciting chance to explore this deserted island. Afterwards, we head off for an afternoon of sailing in the building sea breeze. As evening comes we tied up to the landing in Castine, where you spend time retracing the history of this colonial town. Visit the old fort remains and the Dyces Head Light house. For the night you will be staying at Castine's best harbor-side B&B with your own deluxe room and private bath. In the morning, after breakfast you'll have the chance to shop or continue your exploration of Castine. 10am finds you back aboard ViVA for another great day of sailing. Visit more islands or light houses - Take in all the beauty of Maine's Penobscot Bay. Where to go for the evening? That's up to you! Back to Belfast? or How about a few more days of sailing and enjoy your evenings in a different harbor town?

Age range, type of group

Our Get Away From it All (GAFiA) Sailing Adventure Packages are all inclusive. Our "typical" guest is a couple looking for a romantic get-away. We offer day-sail packages for families. or We can provide private charters for those wanting to make their own agenda. However you decide to sail with us, our goal is to provide the best and most memorable adventure possible. All we suggest- Make your reservations early!!! We tend to book up quickly as the season approaches.

Sleeping and meals

You have the option of staying aboard ViVA. Or spend the night in your private accommodations with private bath at Maine's best harbor side B&Bs. Meals, snacks, and beverages are all inclusive and can be tailored for dietary needs.

Restrictions

Some restrictions: No pets. (There is an affordable pet vacation center available in Belfast) No Smoking aboard ViVA (It's an old wooden boat). We provide an opportunity to celebrate life and all the sea has to offer to anyone who comes to seek it without prejudice. We are limited handicapped accessable and we will be as accommodating as possible.

Rates & Availability

Rates range from $99/night/couple for staying aboard ViVA (no sail included) to $2000+ for a 4 day/ 5 night night inclusive sailing adventure.

We encourage folks to make Belfast your destination. We are central to anyone wanting to see Maine and we offer everything but the crowds.
