Hey all,
Just wanted to let everyone know how wonderful Alpine Rafting was for me and my family!!!
The Young uns came rafting all morning on the upper section of the Kicking Horse River, then we all had a BBQ lunch at the side of the river. Beautiful! The guides were all super professional and interactive with the kids and I was impressed with all their skill levels.

We took a day trip from Banff - to the Kicking Horse River in Golden, BC to raft the biggest Whitewater Anywhere in Western Canada.
I highly recommend Alpine Rafting because they raft the third and final section of the Kicking Horse River - the Lower Canyon. This section has the biggest and best rapids and you don't want to miss it!
There are some companies rafting out of Banff however they DO NOT raft the Lower canyon, so if you can take the beautiful drive thru the Rockies fr ... more

We had so much fun rafting on the Kicking Horse with Alpine last summer. All of the staff were really nice and helpful and our guides kept us safe and entertained the entire time. We did a full day with the Kicking Horse River Challenge and had a excellent BBQ lunch right beside the river. I am going to organize a work trip for this summer as well as a trip with my family and we will definitely be going with Alpine Rafting again! ... more

Typical Day
There are other companies that run the Kicking Horse River, so you may be doing your homework. Although each company has their strengths, these are the reasons we think Alpine Rafting offers the best day on the river.

Longer rafting trip! We begin our day in Yoho National Park, and raft 4 extra kilometres than other companies. For first-time rafters, this means extra time to get comfortable in the raft, learn the paddle strokes and commands from your guide without pressure. If you're researching a whitewater rafting Company to raft with, here are some questions to ask:
* How long has the company been in business? The longer an outfitter has been in business, the more honed the river experience will be.
* What condition is their river gear in? Look for a company that replaces the River Gear you will be wearing all day on an annual basis. Tears, holes, and faded equipment is not acceptable for your day out on the water.
* How many rivers do they run? When companies run multiple rivers, often their guides are not adequately trained for the river they will be running. Look for companies running one or a couple rivers. That way, you know the guides are experienced on that stretch of water
* What is the minimum age of their guides? This says a lot about the experience level of guide. Look for companies with Guides that are at minimum in their late twenties/early thirties. This will likely ensure adequate life experience and river skills.
