Stara Horaren Mountain Cottage

Stara Horaren offers you the tranquil retreat of an old hunting cabin snuggled comfortably in one of the most attractive areas of mountainous Slovakia. We are located in Slovak Paradise National Park. As the name itself implies you will enter a real natural paradise with manifold natural beauties such as:
-The Dobšinská Ice Cave - a unique phenomenon, recorded on UNESCO's list of World Natural Heritage Sites
-Ravines and waterfalls - gorges formed by the creeks over thousands of years
-Kars formations - sinks, underground caves and holes

Our comfortable rooms have hardwood floors, ensuite bathrooms and a lounge with fireplace, satellite TV and video. During your stay you will enjoy traditional Slovak meals scrumptiously prepared by our in-house cook. Spend your holiday at the place where exhilaration and relaxation blend together, and where the range of activities are tailor-made to fulfil your expectations.

There is a ski slope only 2km away with an altitude of 1500m and good snow cover from mid-December to the middle/end of March. If the conditions are not good on one mountain it is not a problem- there are six skiing resorts all within close vicinity to us. You may also want to try cross country skiing, cycling along mountain trails, paragliding, hiking, horse and sleigh riding or visiting a thermal spa and sauna. In the area there are many historic castles which make interesting day excursions.

Directions

Stara Horaren is family cottage tucked away in Lanyi Huta, mountain range of Slovak Paradise near Dobsina, an old mining town 45km from Poprad or 27km from Roznava. The Slovakian busses goes to Dobsina.From Dobsina to Stara Horaren it is 3 km, there is no possibility to take bus or taxi thete, but we can come by car for you.
