Rainbow Beach is the gateway to Fraser Island and this tiny surf town has one of the best beaches and coastal views on the East Coast!! We are set in a cool and relaxing tropical surround only 2 minutes walk from the beach and local amenities with our fun and lively staff only too happy to help!
Ours facilities include a tropical swimming pool, air conditioned rooms, en-suite dorms, a licensed bar, BBQ nights, live music nights, FREE pancake breakfast, FREE local trips to a beauty spot 'The Carlo Sand blow', $5 evening meals, Internet and Photoshop, Full Time travel desk, Laundry, FREE safety deposit, chill out gazebo, pool table and not to mention our famous Fraser Island self-guided camping safaris!
The name Rainbow Beach comes from the rainbow coloured cliffs where 74 different shades of coloured sand can be found. In an Aboriginal legend the cliffs were coloured when Yinigie the spirit of the Gods representing Rainbows was killed in a fight, spreading his colourful spirit across the cliffs.
Directions
From the Bruce Highway turn at Gympie and follow the signs to Rainbow Beach. Premier Bus, Greyhound Bus and Oz experience all drop off right outside our door! Rainbow Beach is 2½ hours from Brisbane airport, or 1¾ hrs from Sunshine Coast airport by car. Drive north along the Bruce Highway towards Gympie, turn off to the right at the signs directing you to Fraser Island and Rainbow Beach.
Warning! Using GPS will take your through the state forestry roads which are dirt track.
