Lancaster's is the only property catering to backpackers and budget minded travelers in downtown McCarthy. The hotel features clean basic accommodation (comfortable bedding in private rooms) combined with shared bathrooms. We feature easy access to all the eateries, flight services, shuttle buses and touring companies in the area as well as internet services, pay laundry, touring advice & information and secure storage for those heading into backcountry destinations.

McCarthy is in the centre of the largest National Park in America, The Wrangell St. Elias NP. This park is bigger than Switzerland. The Mountain scenery rivals the Himalayans or Swiss Alps - there is a substantially higher difference between the lowest and highest elevation, and there are simply more peaks here in 'America's Mountain Kingdom'. There are also more glaciers here than anywhere outside Greenland and Antarctica

As guests of the hotel we will be happy to arrange many of your excursions around McCarthy and in Wrangell St. Elias National Park. We can arrange transport to and from your McCarthy point of arrival and departure to make the trek to this remote area as painless as possible.

Directions

It's best not to rent a car. It's best not to bring luggage, Backpacks or Duffle bags are allowed on the bus, which costs $1.00. Private taxi's are $25 to $35 each way.... We are only $15.

One block off Central street in Wailuku, just 1/2 block from the Mini-Stop in Wailuku.
