Riverbend Hot Springs is a great place to spend your vacation. Unique and special, it has an eclectic atmosphere and a diverse history: From Riverside Bait House, to International Youth Hostel, to Unique Hot Springs Resort. (We still have dorm beds available, but backpackers will now rub elbows with hot springs aficionados, family vacationers, and world travelers.)

HISTORY --
It started out in the 1930's as a bait house, selling minnows for fishing on the Rio Grande River which passes through it. In 1990 the bait house was transformed into a bath house, its doors were opened as an AYH Hostel, and Riverbend was immediately touted by Let's Go USA: “DID YOU KNOW, You Can Sleep in a Tipi and Wake up to a Hot Mineral Bath on the Banks of the Rio Grande?” It became a destination hostel, and a decade of fun ensued. People from countries all over the world felt like they were in heaven, referring to the unique combination of a river, nature, and hot springs on the premises, yet walking distance from a friendly small town.

Today (after the turn of the century and events affecting the entire country) traveling itself has changed. The hot springs have become the big draw in a country seeking relaxation. The town of Truth or Consequences itself has been discovered. (No more 'one of our 50 is missing.') A commercial spaceport is being born 25 miles from town as the crow flies. The governor of the state is in the “running.” Riverbend, always a “drive-by' find that is spreading by word-of-mouth as we speak, is now a Resort & Spa, the Latin letters SPA meaning healing by water (salud por agua).

Riverbend continues to serve people who have one thing in common: they love the waters. It’s not becoming what it’s not, it’s becoming more of what it is. Relaxation, stress reduction, massage, peace, and quiet. Hostelers from the 90's are now returning with their young families.

SMALL TOWN—UNSPOILED LOCATION –
Located in the high desert of the American Southwest, Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico is a special destination for travelers seeking an unspoiled environment. The natural beauty of our nearby lakes and riverside trails attract bird watchers, fishermen, and nature lovers all year round. You’ll find low-key Americana in a town with just one stoplight. Tai-chi and yoga classes, and therapeutic massage are available. Riverbend can also make group arrangements, with advance notice, for horseback riding and fishing guides.

MODERATE WEATHER—
Clean air and moderate weather year-round are the hallmark of the Southwest. Low humidity makes the warmest summer days a perfect time to visit the two nearby lakes and enjoy the icy cold Rio Grande River. July and August bring refreshing showers. SMOKE FREE—
In dedication to your good health, Riverbend Hot Springs maintains a smoke-free environment in rooms and grounds, yet is only a minute's walk to a grassy tree-lined riverside park where people can enjoy the same beautiful environment with no restrictions. Designated smoking area on premises, subject to change.

RELAXING RIVERSIDE POOLS –
Open-air, mountain-view hot mineral pools, overlooking the Rio Grande River, are the most relaxing spot in town. Public pools are free for registered guests of this special resort, and non-quests can rent a public or private pool from 8AM to 10PM for a low hourly fee. No smoking, alcohol, glass, candles, or loud noises allowed in springs area. Well-behaved children and pets welcome, with adults.

VARIED ACCOMMODATIONS –
Private rooms & cottages include King-bed Suites, some with kitchenette, Queen-bed rooms, and 2-bedroom cottages with full kitchen. All have TV, Cable. Fridge, Microwave. Private rooms are often booked in advance, so please call 894 soak first to inquire.
Pension-style doubles – Super value for young travelers: double rooms with full-size bed, shared bath and kitchen, kept clean by guests. No TV, no pets allowed.
Dorms – 4-bed dorm for Men only and 4-bed dorm for Women only. Shared kitchen, bath, and common room in each dorm, kept clean by guests, no pets allowed.
RV & Tent Sites – these are limited. Please phone ahead to inquire about availability, or NM Hotsprings dotcom. Amenities – Free hot springs soaks all day long in public tubs, riverside deck, onsite parking, internet in lobby. WiFi, free linens, picnic tables. Designated smoking.

AREA ATTRACTIONS –
Within a 30 minute or two-hour drive you can visit old mining ghost towns, Gila Forest, Gila Cliff Dwellings, City of Rocks, a Spanish colonial village, two or three Mexican border towns, Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge, Camino Real Heritage Museum, Salt Mission Trail, White Sands, and the Very Large Array. The Grand Canyon and live underground caverns (Carlsbad and Karchner Caves) are each only six to eight hours' drive from Truth Or Consequences. Soon to come: Spaceport America.

GETTING HERE –
Greyhound Bus stops only 2 blocks away. If you are seeking a more convenient bus arrival time, there are Mexican tour buses with convenient schedules and stations in major cities between Los Angeles, Phoenix, El Paso, Albuquerque, and Denver.

From Salt Lake City (SLC) Airport:
Take I-15 South to Nephi. Exit take Hwy 28 to Salina, then take
Hwy89 to Sigurd, then take Hwy 24. The drive is approximately 60 miles to Torrey Utah.



From Las Vegas International Airport:
Take I-15 north to Hwy 20, then Hwy 89, then Hwy 62, the Hwy 24. Keep on Hwy 24 until you reach our hotel.
