Description of Surrounding Area

Located on Costa Rica's southwest Pacific side of the Osa Peninsula, this lodge is set in its own nature reserve in one of the world's most pristine and biodiverse rainforests. We work with the most discerning traveler, our holidays are ideally suited to couples or families, naturalists, photographers and all nature lovers wishing to escape mass tourism resorts. You will appreciate the personal treatment combined with our first hand knowledge of the forest, which ensures a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Watch monkeys leaping in the trees, exotic birds calling and the occasional big cat stalking wild peccaries - the observant hiker can find sloths, kinkajous, eagles, toucans and parrots. Beyond the forest is the near-deserted beach, where you can explore tide pools, take a dip, or just relax on the sand.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy – from boating trips to spot dolphins to monkey-inspired rappelling among waterfalls. But if the thrills of riding a zipline through the trees aren't for you, your porch offers an armchair view of the tropical birds, while the beachside pool and deck are great for a relaxing afternoon cocktail. On-staff naturalists and guides help you get to know the local flora and fauna, and the staff and delightfully helpful and friendly.

Our cabins are situated with ocean and forest views where you can experience the rain forest at its best in comfortable and spectacular lodging.

Description of Rooms/Suites

If you are looking for a private cabin for a couple or a small family, the One Room Cabins are definitely a good option for your stay.
For a more romantic and closer to nature experience we have our special La Vainilla Cabin. This two-storey cabin does not have screenings on the upper level but an impressive view of the ocean beneath.
If you are a group or a big family you might be interested in staying at Casa Osa, our two-storey group cabin that can accomodate up to 8 people.
Last but not least we have our latest addition to our lodge : Casa Poniente. This beautiful two-storey, ocre-colored house has a total of 6 private rooms. Upstaires the 2 suites have private terraces and an amazing view of the ocean, specially at sunset. The big bedroom with king size beds offers a bathroom with both bathtub and shower. Casa Poniente also has offers 4 rooms with ocean or forest views, king size beds and private terraces.

Beautiful ocean and forest views, 6 trails for hikes in our reserve, unchlorinated pool, restaurant and bar.

Hiking: Our resident naturalist guides will explain the interactions between the forest and the wildlife.
Birding: The Osa Peninsula is well known as one of the worlds' best birding destinations.
Horse-back riding: One of our most popular outside tours, a discovery on horse back. Dolphins tour: A spectacular tour that wil bring you close to these incredible animals in the Golfo Dulce.
Waterfall near wildlife lodge in CostaRica Waterfall Rappelling: Enjoy four waterfalls and four hours of adventure in a truly beautiful deep forest setting. Kayak: See and explore the beauty and variety of wildlife in the Golfo Dulce. Surf: The beaches around Matapalo point offer a variety of spots for beginners to experienced surfers.
Zipline: Enter the canopy world, riding a cable 125 feet above the jungle floor. Enjoy spectacular birding and wildlife watching looking down into leaves and branches. Tree Climbing: The best way to see the forest is to get up into the tree tops.

Directions

El Remanso Rainforest Wildlife Lodge is located on the Osa Peninsula, in the southwest corner of Costa Rica. This area has some of the best rainforest and beaches in Central America. We are halfway between Puerto Jimenez (22 kilometers) and Carate on the road to Corcovado National Park, on the Pacific side of the Peninsula just around the corner from Golfo Dulce.There are many options available to you regarding transportation to El Remanso. For the most convenient and quickest way, we recommend flying from San Jose, or if you would like to see the sights of southern Costa Rica you may choose to rent a car.
