Description

Jim's Tibetan Hotel is a great place to stay in Dali old town (Yunnan). It is a beautifully designed boutique hotel in colourful Tibetan- Bai style. We are located in a quiet street close to the old town of Dali, a 5 minute walk to the south gate of Dali.

The rooms have soft and comfortable beds and are decorated with wooden handmade Chinese furniture. The owners paid a great deal of attention to details of the interior decoration which is very original and colourful. All rooms have private bathrooms with a shower or bath and all have heating lamps. We have singles, doubles, triples and family bedrooms available.

Outside the rooms are wide balconies with private seating. Other wonderful relaxing places are the garden and sunny rooftop terrace with a magnificent view over the Erhai lake and the mountains, in the evening you can enjoy the stars and see the lit up city walls. You can have your meals and drinks in the garden or in the restaurant.

The hotel's atmosphere is warm and inviting and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Last but not least we want to recommend the restaurant which serves very tasty food for breakfast (such as home baked bread), lunch and dinner. There is a a choice of Tibetan, Chinese and western food.

Please note that we also organize special non-touristy daytrips around Dali. Longer tailormade trips can be booked through Yunnan, Tibet (e.g. budget- overland tours from Yunnan to Tibet), Sichuan and Guizhou. Our specialties are minorities and trekkings. All trips need to be booked in advance.

Payment: for both the hotel and the trips we accept cash money/ transfer by bank or creditcard (4% service charge).

IMPORTANT: please note that we keep the room for you until 16.00 p.m. If by that time you haven¡¯t arrived we cannot guarantee your reservation unless you confirm by mail.

Directions

Jim's Tibetan Hotel: just outside Dali's south gate on the Bo Ai Lu (Lu = street) on the Yu Xiu Lu 13.

By taxi: it's easiest to copy the Chinese namecard and show it to the driver. Drivers usually only speak Chinese and only read Chinese characters!

By air: there are no airport busses so it’s best to arrange a pick up. The airport is 25 km out of Dali old town, about 45 min drive. Transfer from and to the airport costs 10 euro/ 12 US $ per car (2-4 people incl luggage).

By bus from Kunming: from the busstation in Xiaguan (= new city of Dali) take a taxi or get no. 4 bus: get off at the south gate on the Bo Ai Lu. With this gate at your back, walk straight across the crossroads, follow the Yu Lu Lu and then take the first street on your right hand side called Yu Xiu Lu. The hotel is in the bend up the street.

By bus from Lijiang: get off along the highway at Dali old town, take a taxi and show the driver the address in Chinese (see namecard picture in the photogalley or go to our website).

By train: from the railway station in Xiaguan (= new city of Dali) take a taxi or no. 8 bus: get off at the last stop on the Yu’er Lu. Then take a taxi and get off at the south gate on the Bo Ai Lu. With this gate at your back, walk straight across the crossroads, follow the Yu Lu Lu and then take the first street on your right hand side called Yu Xiu Lu. The hotel is in the bend up the street.
