Active Adventure

Whitewater adventures on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River along the southern border of Glacier National Park. Mostly Class II and III whitewater (medium whitewater with numerous waves, narrow passages, eddies and bends). Glacier Raft Company's ½ day whitewater trip is 8 river miles. Depending on river flow, this trip will take 2 ½ to 4 hours, including a short bus shuttle to the river and instruction and safety information.Glacier Raft Company's full day whitewater trip is 13 river miles. Including a bus shuttle to the river, instruction and safety information, and lunch along the river, this trip usually takes 5 to 6 hours.

Typical Day

Multiple departures throughout the day. Shuttle by bus to river access. Trip starts with brief trip description and safety talk by guides. Float through Nyack Flats of the Middle Fork of the Flathead River along the southern border of Glacier National Park with views of the Nyack Coal Creek area of Glacier National Park where parts of “The River Wild” was filmed. Stop along the river for a lunch break while your guides prepare a riverside BBQ lunch. After lunch, the river takes you through the John Stevens Canyon below Moccasin Creek that includes 9 named rapids, mostly Class II and III whitewater (medium whitewater with numerous waves, narrow passages, eddies and bends), including Bonecrusher and Jaws. Watch for our photographer at Bonecrusher and be sure to view your digital photo at the end of the trip! The trip ends at the bridge in West Glacier where you will disembark from the raft with a short walk back to our office, your car and dry clothes, and a chance to purchase trip photos and souvenirs!

Age range, type of group

Just about everyone can go whitewater rafting. No experience is necessary, although most of our trips require some paddling and you will probably get wet! Glacier Raft Company welcomes rafters young and old, with minimum age restrictions dependent on weather and water conditions. In general, during summertime flows, children as young as 6 may participate in our various raft trips. Springtime trips require an older minimum age as the level of difficulty increases, while late season water conditions may allow younger children. With advance notice, we can accommodate special needs.

Sleeping and meals

Glacier Raft Company offers deluxe 1- and 2-bedroom cabin accommodations adjacent to Glacier National Park for those looking for a great base camp to explore Northwest Montana.
