Nestled at the 4th floor of a historical building, The Golden Eagle Hostel welcomes everyone -with no discrimination for sexual orientation, race, nationality, etc. The hostel was the former home of Count Lajos Karoly -who was in deep love and directed the construction of the building and offered it as a wedding present to his beloved future wife Countess Katalina Andrassy (from the famous aristocratic Andrassy family). Count Karoly named his building as \'Arany Sas Udvar\' or \'The Golden Eagle Yard\' and placed a golden eagle on the top-front of the building -which still stands now a days. The eagle was then a symbol of power for the Austro-Hungarian empire. After the communist took power in Hungary, the building was taken by the new regimen and given to the proletariat to live in. So, it was then divided in several small apartments, and in one of them is our hostel, The Golden Eagle. Besides its great location and amazing history, our small hostel has a friendly atmosphere.
We are located in downtown, near to the National Museum, the splendid Central Hall Market and the Danube river with Gellert and Rudas Thermal Baths.

The area is well known for its pubs, cafes, restaurants (one block away from Ráday utca -with 50 restaurants with tables lined along the street) and many other places of entertainment as well. The environment is safe and pleasant.

We have bright, spacious and clean mixed dorms with 8 beds and a private double bed room.
The hostel has free Wi-Fi Internet connection in all the rooms, use of linen is included in the price, free self-serving coffee and tea, a kitchen for self-catering, lockers -with individual keys to store luggage, free maps and brochures, a flexible check-out and a non-curfew policy.

NOTES.
1) Please make as accurate as possible your arrival time to the hostel, as we do not have 24-hour reception desk. If you are delayed or arrive earlier, it would be appreciated a message or a call to inform us about the change in the arrival time.

2) The hostel is in a residential building constructed more than 100 years ago, for which it is important to keep quiet specially late at night (after 10 pm).

3) The price is given in Hungarian currency and the payment needs to be made in cash at arrival and it can be made also in euros. We hope to see you at our hostel in Budapest!
