We invite you to stay at Salvador\'s friendliest hostel, located in the heart
of
Pelourinho. Salvador, the first capital of Brazil from 1549&? became a
blending of European, African and Amerindian cultures which are still evident
today. Much of the old architecture and character of old Salvador de Bahia
has been restored in the oldest part of the city ? Pelourinho, and Hostel Sao
Jorge is located in the heart of Pelourinho.
Salvador takes great pride in the fact that Pelourinho has the largest
collection of Baroque Colonial architecture in Latin America and has been
declared a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE. And Sao Jorge Hostel is
fortunate to be located in this area with its many cathedrals, palaces and
Museums. We are minutes away from numerous sandy beaches and cruises
to scenic and historic islands.
Experience Salvador of the past with its many free public demonstrations of
drums Bands, Capoeira and local music. Hostel Sao Jorge is surrounded by
scores of fine sidewalk cafes and several Capoeira academies.
Our goal is to be the best budget hostel in Pelourinho, Salvador , catering to
the needs of backpackers worldwide. We are continuing to refurbish Sao
Jorge in an attempt to offer the best value in Salvador for the money.
Staying at Sao Jorge will help you to experience Pelourinho of the past and
the present.

Directions
From the bus station :
Cross the pedestrian footbridge from the Bus Station to Iguatemi mall and take the 'executivo' bus to Praça da Sé at the bus stop outside Iguatemi mall. Get off at the last bus stop and follow the attached map up to the Hostel.
Another alternative is to take the Barroquinha bus at the Bus Station, get off at the entrance to the Historic Center (Centro Historico, Corner of Rua Padre Santo Agostinho Gomes) in Baixa dos Sapateiros and walk up Ladeira Do Pelourinho , towards Terreiro De Jesus. At number 25 , in front of the Old Medical School College .
From the airport:
Take the Airport-Praça da Sé 'executivo' bus, get off at the last bus stop and follow the attached map to reach the Hostel. After 8 p.m., it is advisable to take a taxi or arrange for us to pick you up .
