Description of Surrounding Area

John's Gate B&B is located in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake which is in the heart of one of the most beautiful tourist regions of Canada. We are surrounded by many wineries, the Shaw Festival Theatre, gourmet restaurants and antique and boutique shopping. The world famous Niagara Falls are a less than 15-20 minute drive by the highway. You may also take the scenic route along the Niagara River to the Falls. There are museums, bike and hiking trails, MarineLand and Game farm, golf courses, SPAs, a sailing club, horse riding stables, casinos, fruit and vegetable farms and many more activities of interest.

Description of Accommodations

John's Gate was custom-built with our guests in mind. There is a private entrance, with a private dining and living room. The living room has a fire-place, bar-fridge and glassware for the guests' convenience. You may hook up your computer or we provide a computer for you to check your emails. Telephone is provided upon request. The house has two covered porches for our guests to enjoy. There are three bedrooms, all with private (ensuite) baths. Each bedroom has been well appointed. You are invited to enjoy the warmth of our hospitality.

Description of Rooms/Suites

There are three rooms, each with their own ensuite bath. Two rooms have Queen size beds and one room has a Twin/King bed. Our rooms are average size and have all the baisc needs to be comfortable. Many toitetries are supplied. The three bedrooms are burgandy, shades of green and the third in blue and yellow. Each bedroom is tastefully appointed with beautiful paintings.

Restrictions

Due to allergies, we are sorry, we cannot take pets. John's Gate is a non-smoking facility. Smoking is only permitted on the porch. By order of the fire marshal, no open-flame candles are permitted in B&Bs at Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Directions

We are very centrally located.
From the QEW -
Exit the QEW at 38B for Highway 55 (Niagara Stone Road). Keep going to the end of the road where you will come to a T junction - about 1.5 kms. Turn left onto York Road (Regional road 81). Turn right onto Airport Road just past the Automotive Warehouse. Airport Road will bring you to Hwy. 55 (Niagara Stone Road). Turn right onto Hwy 55. Drive through the town of Virgil. You will pass the new Jackson Triggs Winery on the right and Shopper's Drug Mart on the left. Then you will come to JOHN STREET on the right (Landmark: Niagara Auto Detailing sign). Turn right onto John Street and cross over Simcoe Street. You will see the water tower at the end of the second block. Directly in front of the water tower is JOHN'S GATE B&B.

If coming from the States:
From I190 North take the Lewiston Bridge into Canada. After going through Customs, you will need to have C$3.50 or US$2.50 for the toll. Stay in the extreme right hand lane. Immediately after the toll booth, at the first exit marked "Niagara-on-the-Lake", turn right onto the ramp. Follow the signs for Niagara on the Lake. This will bring you onto the Niagara Parkway. Turn left on the Niagara-Parkway for Niagara-on-the-Lake. Keep driving till you see Kurtz Orchards on your left side. The first left after Kurtz Orchards is John Street (Landmark: River Bend Inn). Turn left onto John Street and keep going till you come to Gate Street, 4th intersection. (Landmark: Water Tower). John's Gate is located at John and Gate Streets. Cross over Gate Street and turn right onto the gravel driveway.
