Active Adventure

Adventures at our ranch appeal to all age groups who would like an active outdoor vacation. Our horseback rides go beyond nose-to-tail riding with chances to do a "cattle drive". We teach Western Horsemanship. Visitors can enjoy some of the finest wildlife viewing in Montana. We host just a limited amount of guests so a vacation to our ranch feels like it is your "own ranch". Besides the riding, guests may enjoy great hiking, shooting a rifle, fishing, swimming, and gold panning. One of the richest gold strikes in the West occurred on our ranch.

Typical Day

We start early on the ranch. You may join us or sleep a little extra. We saddle horses before breakfast and some of the crew attends to other ranch chores. After breakfast, we head out through the mountains. . . sometimes we are moving cattle and we take a lunch with us for those longer rides. Other times you are watching the wildlife and the majestic mountain scenery of the ranch. In the afternoons, we fish, goldpan, swim, hike, or work on ranch chores. In the evenings, we often go for a wildlife tour, teach Western Horsemanship & training, or sit by the fire.

Age range, type of group

Our ranch best suits folks who like to participate in the outdoors. Couples, singles, and seniors really enjoy the individualized activities our ranch offers. Families with children 10 and older find the variety of outdoor activities great to keep the youngsters occupied. Remember we host an average of less than ten folks per trip so it IS like going to your own ranch. Many of our guests come back year after year.

Sleeping and meals

Guests visiting our ranch can stay at one of our three cabins or there is one room at the lodge. All the cabins have refrigerators, showers, and electric heat. Two of the cabins have three or more beds while one has only a bedroom with two beds. Folks visiting our ranch eat homestyle meals at our lodge. We do have a hot tub in a pavillion outside the cabins.

Restrictions

All activities on the ranch are included with our rates -- horseback riding, cattle drives, goldpanning, hiking, wildlife watching, nature study, horsemanship programs, and ranch fishing. We do not allow smoking in the Lodge, cabins, vehicles or on the trail. We allow riders only up to 240 pounds due to safety constraints and we do not allow riders less than six years old to go on a horse by themselves.

Rates

Weekly rates go from $1100 per week for youth ages 6 to 13 to $1400 per week for guests ages 14 and older. If you want single occupancy in a cabin, the rate is $1650 for the week. We have a three day minimum with a per day rate of $325 per person for ages 14 and older and $275 per day for 13 and under.

Other Information

Often there are rodeos close by to our ranch each weekend and Yellowstone Park is just two hours from Townsend, Montana.
