Situated in the tiny, remote village of El Jaibalito, Vulcano Lodge, owned and run by a wonderful Norwegian couple -- Terje and Monica Mailand -- is accessible only by boat or trek. Once here, you will find the perfect blend of fine European style, service, and quality in combination with unmatched natural beauty, privacy, and comfort. Our small establishment (eight rooms and one suite) offers spacious lodging, expansive grounds, stunning vistas, and immediate access to all that Lake Atitlan has to offer


There are six double rooms, all with two twin beds, desk and chair, bedside stand with lamp, private bath and private patio. Each room is spotlessly clean, comfortable, graciously decorated, and secure. Room rates at Vulcano Lodge start at $39 USD per night including breakfast. For families or groups, we offer one guest room sleeping three people and another sleeping four people.

And, we have a wonderful, large, second-story suite with great views of the gardens, the lake and the volcanoes. The suite has two spacious bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with three single beds, a large living room with couch and chairs, as well as a charming dining room. French doors open from the living room to a very large covered terrace that provides great views, lots of seating, and comfortable hammocks. Vulcano Lodge is a small family run guesthouse. We are situated in an excluded tropical garden in the small village Jaibalito.

The garden attracts different varieties of hummingbirds and other wildlife. Our rooms have private bathroom with hot shower. The rooms also have nice view and private terrace. The guesthouse has a cozy restaurant.

Our breakfast and lunch are served 'a la carte' while in the evening we have tasty family style dinner.

Directions

Vulcano Lodge is located at the smallest village around Lake Atitlan. We do not have car access, so you have to come by boat. The boat tour takes about 25 minutes from Panajachel. Ask the boatman to drop you of at the main dock in Jaibalito. From there it is a 3 minutes walk to our guesthouse.
