You�ll find our backpackers' mansion perched on the 'Miradouro do Santa Catarina' overlooking the river and the bridge Ponte 25 de Abril. Alive with fluttering laundry, regal buildings and balcony gossip, Santa Catarina is smack in the middle of Lisbon's cultural and entertainment life. The adjacent neighborhood of Chiado is perfect for an afternoon of shopping or just loitering in cafes.
At night, a few steps from our front door, the famous 'Bairro Alto' comes to life. The storefronts that were shuttered before have burst open, revealing an endless array of small bars, the decoration of which seems to have been left to young art students and fashion designers. Add plastic cups and no covers and you have one of Europe's hottest and cheapest nightspots.
Whether you�re exploring monuments to colonial power in Belem, hiking through the historic Alfama, tracking down the melancholic sighs of Fado, making your way to Sintra or heading off to the beach for the day, our staff, well-versed in the art of travel, can offer tips and advice on how best to navigate the city.
We also keep you connected with free and incredibly fast ADSL internet, Wi-Fi access, computers with memory card readers and CD/DVD burning facilities, phone cards and available phone for keeping in contact with the family.

Santa Apolonia Train station
This Hostel is right next to Santa Apolonia Train station.If You are comming from train this is the perfect place to be. Every day there's trains from Madrid and Paris...and every day you can go to the inumerous destinations that this station has to offer. When you get off the station turn to your right...if you look above you should see a yellow sign saying Residencia Oliveira. it is just 2minutes walking from Caminhos de ferro street.
Airport
If you are comming from the airport we advise taking a taxi.It is about 15minutes and the prices go from 10 to 25 euros (TOP). If The taxi Driver charge you more than that please ask for the receipt and the taxi drivers name.
Messages to say to the taxi driver:
'Leve-me para a Rua dos caminhos de ferro numero 70.Ao lado da estação de comboio de Santa Apolonia'
Translation:
'Take me to Rua dos caminhos de ferro numero 70.It is next to to Santa Apolonia train station'
If you decide to come by other means there is a bus Number 91to Restauradores square and take the metro to Stª. Apolónia(train station) on get off in Rossio square and take bus 759 or 745 to stª. Apolónia.
Oriente Train station
In Oriente Train station there is another train that goes directly to Santa Apolonia train station.From there follow the directions from Santa Apolonia train station discribed above. You can also can take the bus 28 to Stª. Apolónia.
