    San Miguel del Mar is truly one of the most magical places anywhere. Owners Guillermo and Pedro are the consummate hosts and have built this retreat from a simple house into an incredible experience. Their love for San Miguel del Mar and for providing a first rate guest experience truly shows. The food is unbelievable, cooked by Guillermo and Peter themselves and if you want to see someone light up and share a passion, ask Peter about his palm collection.     I am a frequent traveler both for business and pleasure. My husband and I stayed in "Oceanfront Getaway San Miguel Del Mar," A fantastic perfect romantic getaway. The rooms are huge, with exquisite taste. The ocean view is beautiful, and the food is exceptional!
    We enjoyed the spectacular sunsets every night. The rooms have balconies that allow you to sip a nice glass of wine, read a magazine and relax. Last but not least customer service is the best I have every experienced.

    San Miguel del Mar e' un pezzo di paradiso solo pochi fortunati. Disegnato da Guillermo e Peter questo piccolo gruppo di cottages e nascosto in uno dei tratti di costa del pacifico piu integri. Circondato da lagune di mangrovia e case di pescatori. E' un paradiso tropicale di panorami, esperienze culinarie, comodita esclusive e al riparo da ogni disturbo.     San Miguel del Mar is located on the southern Pacific coast of Guatemala, known to some as the Guatemalan riviera. We are on the rural coast between the internationally known, mangrove filled ecological park, El canal de Chiquimulilla to the north and the Pacific Ocean with the best sailfishing in the world, right in front of us.

    Gardens at San Miguel del Mar
    San Miguel del Mar is a private home to hosts Guillermo and Peter offering four oceanfront suites, two rooftop lofts, and two smaller rooms for guests who cherish privacy, serenity and service in a relaxed native way. The three acre property has the main private residence, two twin buildings that have four rooms each, beachfront cabanas, outdoor showers, a swimming pool, lily pond and gardens. There are two rooftop lofts where your 360' views of the coastline and volcanoes are just spectacular!

    A covered patio greets you in each suite before walking into a living room, a separate open bedroom area with king sized bed, and spacious bathroom. The suites, which are designed for two people, have security boxes and mini refridgerators with honor bars, towels, linens, bathrobes and of course, ocean views even from your bed.

    This is heaven, here on the coast, and there are no phones, no t.v.´s and no air conditioning, but we do play music in the living areas and all the rooms have ceiling fans. It´s the best place to let go, disconnect and get away from it all. We supply all the meals and all the meals are included in the cost of your stay. Guillermo and Peter personally do all the cooking and the meals are served with care and attention. We are happy to accommodate any special diets you may have according to freshness and availability.

    El Conde Descalzo
    El Conde Descalzo is the name of our private restaurant but we can gladly serve your meals in your rooms if you wish. We have a full bar and we always ask if there is something special we can provide for you so your stay will be more comfortable. The room fee includes three meals a day per person, with water, coffee, tea or lemonade included. All addtional drinks or food ordered will be charged separately.

    The swimming pool
    San Miguel del Mar is for adults 18 and older. The suites are non smoking but you can smoke on the patios. We do not allow pets but on the premises there are two dogs; a Playan terrier Cocoa and a Chocolate Lab Chocolate, an affectionate little kitten Caramelo and currently 24 little turtles that just hatched in our turtle pond.

    The beach and the waves
    There is a rainy season here from June thru October and the garden becomes lush and the surrounding area very green. October thru February are the coolest months for sleeping. If you are coming to Guatemala we can recommend places to see: Antigua, Chichicastenango, Lake Atitlan, the Mayan ruins of Tikal or even arrange a deep sea fishing expedition. We have a great massage therapist who works out your troubles if you give her enough notice!

    We are two hours from Guatemala City on the Pacific coast between Puerto Quetzal and Monterrico. Guests can drive directly from the city; we can arrange car service; go through the scenic route between the volcanoes from Antigua; or we can provide you with the GPS coordinates for a 15 minute helicopter ride from the city.
