The Dakota Hostel and Hotel San Francisco is now under new ownership and Management as of April 10 2006.(The new owners and management are the same people who operate the other top rated Hotel and Hostel in San Francisco called the Adelaide Hotel/Hostelwhich is only a thirty second walk from the Dakota Hotel/Hostel.

All our guests can now use both buildings and enjoy the best of both hotels.

Our goal is to provide to all our guests a great stay in San Francisco, and provide more value for Dakota Hotel and Hostel guests than ever before.

The Dakota hostel is highly recommended by travel guides like 'Lets Go USA', 'Lonely Planet ' and 'Guide du Routard' as the place to stay in San Francisco for comfort and value.

We also have four bed male dorm rooms, four bed female dorm rooms four bed mixed dorm rooms available for you to choose from. All rooms have their own private bathrooms and are cleaned daily by our professional full time staff. Guests will receive towels, soap and shampoo that the Dakota provides free of charge to make your stay more comfortable. All our rooms have full service like any good hotel. Blankets and bed sheets are provided free of charge.

We also offer all our guests the following free Internet computers to use and free Multimedia computer workstations where you can download from your digital camera Cards or simply connect your camera to our multimedia computers and burn your own photo CDs. There is also free luggage storage, free satellite TV in every room, free incoming phone calls and of course we have no curfew or chores, you are our guest.
We are open 24 hours a day, with a staff member at the front desk at all times to handle late check in and provide for your security.


If you are coming to San Francisco for a conference the Dakota is only a five minute walk to the San Francisco Moscone Centre and only a one minute walk to the Hilton Hotel San Francisco convention centre. Our international staff will help you with directions when you arrive.

The Dakota Hostel requires valid identification from all guests when they check in.
A valid passport or driver’s licence with photo or student ID card with photo is required of all guests and some proof of travel such as airline tickets etc may be required.

The Dakota Hostel Union Square
The Dakota is situated in the heart of Downtown San Francisco.
Our exact location is 606 Post Street right on the corner of Taylor Street in Union Square Area of San Francisco.(just drive or tell your taxi or airport shuttle bus we are on the corner of Post Street and the cross Street is Taylor Street .
We are only a five minute walk from the BART subway line at Powel Street that comes from San Francisco Airport.
Also the Dakota has a shuttle bus from the Airport but you should check with Gerard at the Dakota for times and availability.
