Accommodations

Mundax Homestay Retreat offers a large and airy guestroom with an en-suite bathroom. Our luxuriously furnished and quality facilities enable you to relax in true style. It is private with modern conveniences and we assure you utmost privacy and discretion.

Our guestroom has a private entrance and is smoke free. Adjoining the bedroom we have a lounge room and a reading room exclusively for the use of guests. Guests will have private use of these three rooms covering 675 square feet.

There is a selection of books in the reading room. There are garden chairs in the lawn overlooking the lake, the flower and spice gardens. There are two small lakes and a pond on the property.

The large and airy bedroom has a spacious veranda - sit out overlooking the healing waters, the spice and flower gardens. The veranda has outdoor chairs for enjoying the views and fresh mountain air. The bedroom is elegant and spacious, and private en-suite western style bathroom has running hot and cold water and shower.

The beds have excellent quality cotton linen. A free western style self-laundry facility is available and quality toiletries , bath towels and hairdryers are provided.

We provide South Indian, Kerala cuisine. Meals will be with your host. Kerala cuisine is mildly flavoured gently cooked and has a certain gentle delicacy on the stomach. Food is often flavoured with spices such as ginger, cloves, garlic, cinnamon, pepper, mustard, cumin, cardamom, turmeric, chilli and coriander. These spices are used for the taste and to aid the digestion. We craft a new menu each day of your stay so you will never be bored.

Mundax Homestay Retreat is located in Kuttikkanam, near Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and Tiger Reserve, Idukki District, Kerala State, South India. Homestay is on Kottayam - Kumily road.

Kuttikkanam is 915 m above sea level, on the way to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, 4 Km from Peermade, this lovely hill station was once the summer retreat of the Maharajas of Travancore. Expansive gardens of tea, coffee, cardamom, and eucalyptus lying side by side with natural grasslands, pine forests and waterfalls make this an ideal summer resort.

The weather is cool all through the year owing to its altitude. The pleasing cool breezes make Kuttikkanam pleasant to be visited any time of the year.

Kuttikkanam is encircled by spectacular greens of the plantations of Coffee, tea, coconut, pepper, cardamom, and eucalyptus. The dazzling green grasslands and the pine forests add to the rich flora of Kuttikkanam.

For adventure loving people there are many trekking trails that add to the unspoiled beauty of Kuttikkanam, it is a paradise for the trekkers, nature lovers for ages. The idyllic hill resort of Kuttikkanam indeed rejuvenates the mind, body and the soul.

In close vicinity to Kuttikkanam is the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The wildlife reserve is famous for its tigers, elephants and bird life. Other tourist places nearby are Munnar (135 Km), Kumarakam (85 Km) and Vagamon (25 Km).
