Description of Sailboat

Sailboat Aurora is a 60ft four times around the world racer that takes ten guests with good accommodation. It was built in Britain in 1996 and has always been up to its tasks in various conditions all over the world and is now sailing in Icelandic waters.

Destinations

We spend most of our time in the West Fjords in North Iceland and the base for our operation is Isafjordur , the capital of the West Fjords.
The fjords in the Isafjordur area are the location for some of the best adventure opportunities in Iceland. We offer an ideal way to explore this lesser known region with its breathtaking scenery and magnificent mountains, The Westfjords are Iceland’s northwestern outpost and Europe’s westernmost tip. They are characterized by rugged landscapes, with deep fjords, majestic mountains, deserted farms, nesting birds, awe-inspiring silence and much more.

The air is pure, filled with the scents of clean, ocean breeze and wild vegetation.

We also offer expedition style trips to East Greenland for hiking and sea kayaking. Greenland is our next door neighbor with the coast only 180nm away. Skiing on the island of Jan Mayen NE of Iceland is also a very exciting possibility for adventure skiers.

Typical Day

Except when we´re doing pure sailing trips, we try to spend as much time as we can on shore doing different activities depending on what kind of trip we´re operating. On a typical day we go onshore after a nice breakfast and start the days activity. It could be walking in the wild nature of Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, watching the millions of birds soar above the huge bird cliffs, sea kayaking in the calm Glacier Fjords, snorkeling in their pristine waters, watching the Sea eagle catching its prey, walking up to Drangajokull Glacier, carve fresh ski tracks in the mountains or go trout fishing.

Age range, type of group

Everybody are welcome on our trips but it´s better to be in reasonable good shape to participate in most of the activities we offer. We also offer family trips, so bring your kids along!

Sleeping and meals

Accommodation is provided in three two person cabins and one four person cabin. We take great pride in the meals we offer. Icelandic cuisine like fish and lamb dishes are common. We also catch some trout and pick mussels for starter.

Pets not allowed and smoking allowed on deck.
