Whether you just want to kick back and do nothing, or be active outdoors, the Berkshire Hills offer a serene country enrivonment for your pleasure. During the summer, Tanglewood, just a walkable mile away, hosts the Boston Symphony Orchestra and other performing groups daily. Spend the day picnicking and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Theater, ballet and other performing arts groups abound within a few minutes drive--let us know your interests and we can advise you on what's available. Many wonderful restaurants are right across the street in Lenox, as are art galleries and unique shops. If you want a few quiet minutes, the Berkshires have an interesting history to catch up on -- visit the Norman Rockwell Museum, the homes of noted writers Edith Wharton, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Herman Melville. The Shakers had one of their largest communities in Hancock, now a living history museum. Finally, visit our own Hilltop Orchards and Furnace Brook Winery. We can help you arrange for cycling, hiking, watersports, alpine and cross-country skiing adventures and equipment, all within minutes of the Garden Gables inn
. Located 10 miles from the Inn in neighboring Richmond, you can pick apples in season, and enjoy a complementary tasting of our award-winning wines and apple cidre. Open Fri-Sun from 11am-5pm year-round.
The Hilltop Orchards' trails are groomed for cross country and snowshoe skiing in the winter and are used for hiking and mountain biking during the rest of the year. Guided hikes are available on Saturday. Call for more information or visit the web site.
We have just completed a renovation of the main public rooms of the Inn, making them even more comfortable and accomodating. We have also added two beautiful suites, which, like our Cottage Rooms, are ideal for longer term stays. The Inn is set on five acres of lawns and gardens, right in the center of Lenox. So, you can play in the beautiful Berkshire Hills all day, and then take a leisurely stroll across the street to dinner. Wake up in the morning to a full country breakfast. To complement our buffet of fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals, breads and cheeses, our chef will prepare eggs, waffles and pancakes to your order. You hear about fresh orange juice, but who actually squeezes it themselves? We do!
Each suite or room is unique and individually decorated with traditional furnishings. LCD TVs with DVDs, together with free wireless internet access make keeping up with events easy. See our website for full room descriptions and pictures.
There are many restaurants right across the street in the town of Lenox, as well as many others easily accessible by car in surrounding towns. We have a gorgeous 70-foot pool for the exclusive use of our guests during the summer months. If you are planning a wedding, family reunion or business meeting, we can arrange during the off season for you to have the exclusive use of the entire Inn, including arranging for meals through our chef or with your own caterer. We will work with you to make your event everything you imagine it can be.
The Inn has a private dedicated spa treatment room staffed by Jess St.John, our licensed massage therapist. We recommend making reservations prior to arrival to ensure availability. Visit the web site for contact information for Jess. Yoga sessions can also be arranged by contacting the Inn's front desk or reservations.

My husband and I stayed here in February and went cross-country skiing at the owner's farm/apple orchard which was about a 15 drive from the Inn. The inn is beautiful! We stayed in room 15 which had a fireplace and one of the most beautiful beds I've ever seen - photos are on their web site. The breakfast was delicious and the overall feeling was upscale yet not stuffy. Skiing at their farm was really special, it is up on a mountain top and the veiws are spectacular.
