Sailboat

Cadeau is 13.5 metres long and displace 14 tons wwa (without wine aboard). Her 100 sq. mts. of sail can push her to 8 knots or more when surfing. The spinnaker is 170 sq. mts. and gives a lot of emotions as well as work. Swan’s typical companionway is horizontal and gives access to the main living area. The woodwork is impeccable, of semi-satinated teak. The lay-out is classic: navigation area to starboard, the galley to port and the saloon in front of the mast. The front cabin has plenty of storage room, a huge double bed and a private companionway. The aft cabin has a single and a double bed, and is warm and luminous. The heads, with warm shower, are very wide for its category. Originnally designed for the Members of New York Yacht, it did not take much to win many races at Cowes. As in the first whitbread, where a Swans arrived 1st, 3rd and 4th, a series boat was calling the shots. All thanks to the legendary hands of Rod Stephens mingled with the proverbial finnish seriousness. As the same Nautor says, “no one can afford to build a boat under S&S specifications any more….”
Cadeau is a classic Swan 44, designed by Sparkmann and Stephens, intact in its style and with just few modifications (double beds in each cabin, improved teak interiors, full optional and top class upholstery) to the original design. To the legendary superb way of sailing, Cadeau add of her own the safety of experience. She is one of the few Swans to round Cape Horn 3 times, and a long list of enthusiast guests reference her cruises in Alaska, the Caribbean, Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, Brasil and Chile. Cadeau cruised between parallel 60 North and 56 South, with an immaculate record for safety in the worst waters of the world. Cadeau has her pictures on magazines, her name on newly surveyed patagonian channels, her voyages in some of the best memories of guests from Usa, Canada, Germany, England, Spain, Argentina, New Zealand, Italy and Belgium. Every destination you can choose on the globe has its own peculiarities. None is like another. History does not seem to change too much when we consider that most modern vessels come from Europe. Shipyards and sailors seem to fan out from the Mediterranean or the Channel. Even Americans feel this fatal attraction and end up imprisoned by the fascination of the witches conquering the heart of sailors since time immemorial. The Med is the cradle of art, the big bang of history and certainly the heart of cuisine. Following most yachtsmen route, we cross the Atlantic and stop in the Caribean. Still a world of ex-pats, be them from Africa, France or England, this crown of small and big islands keeps changing ashore, but preserve the same eternal blue soul once the white beach is left behind. At this point the wandering community splits and some go south, to discover the contrasts between the heart-maddening Brazil and the freezing marvels of Antarctica and Patagonia. The staggering contrasts between green bays surrounded by smiling girls dancing samba and windy coves pestered by icebergs is the reward of those opting for the southern route around the myth of Cape Horn. But still the wide majority of sailors chooses the Panama Canal and steers west towards the sunset beauty of Polinesia, with just a tiny group of adventurers heading north towards Alaska. The archipelagos along the route to Australia are endless and full of precious encounters. Galapagos, Hawaii, French Polinesia, Samoa, Solomon, Vanuatu and million athols are still there to be discovered. Once a day is lost crossing the dateline, Asia begins, with the stark beauty of the south east, that means Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand. The round-the-world sailor's route continues, through the Maldives and the Red Sea, ultimately ending where it all began, around the volcanoes of Stromboli or Santorini, the temples of Agrigento and Crete but especially around a round table covered full by glasses of wine. While the modern traveller might complain he lost the thrill of exploration, he will never regret he can now combine the pleasure of discovery with the efficency of boat charter service, where Captains and crews will let you discover the world as the first adventure saw it, but in the meantime give you the advantage of doing so with a glass of perfect wine in your hand. Each vacation must be tailor made on what the traveller wants, and the experience we gathered in chartering and brokering in most corners of the globe in the last years will find what you look for. The Sea is like a magic mirror, it does not reflect the appearance of what stands over it, but its essence and its soul. So it rarely gives back the image of a boat, but surely its dreams and desires. If the voyager searches history and heritage, the mirror of the Sea will reflect ocre shadows among white and blue hulls secluded in stony ancient havens. If the people on the boat want to relax by a sandy athol with leaning palms, the Sea will assume a blue and crystal clear hue with two white shadows painted on the shallow bottom. Again, the traveller might seek adventure in remote places, and a milky green surface will return the warm fires of a galley hidden among small icebergs and fir trees. To others, more interested in the pleasures of eating, the sea will be a generous dispenser of flavours and perfumes, echoed in the character and aromas flowing down the cliffs and valleys by the coast.
