Castanea Old Town Hostel

Welcome to Castanea Old Town Hostel, one of the most central hostels in Stockholm. Only 200 meters from the Royal Palace in Gamla Stan and near tourist attractions, shops, cafes and restaurants. Castanea is also close to Central station - only one stop with the underground.

Castanea is a small personal hostel, located in the middle of the Old Town (Gamla Stan), one of the world's best preserved medieval city centre. Castanea is a modern hostel in a charming building from 1747. With a beautiful horse chestnut tree at a small square just outside. We have 55 beds, in single rooms, twin rooms, 4- and 6-bedded rooms and one dormitory. All rooms has shared WC and Showers.

In our dormitory we have lockers, bring your own padlock or rent from us.

We have a popular guest kitchen for your own cooking.

*Sleeping bags are not allowed*
Sheets and towels could be hired (65 SEK/person one time fee) or you can bring your own. Please note that either way bed linen must be used. Sleeping bags are not allowed due to hygienic reasons.

We have guest computer and free Wifi (in most rooms).

In Castanea smoking is not allowed, nor is animals. Open all year.

Check-in: 15.00-18.00.
For arrivals before 15:00 or after 18.00 please contact us at least 2 days before arrival to arrange for check-in.


Cancellation Policy
Cancellation without charge must be done at least 2 days before arrival date. If cancellations are made later than this you pay for the first night.

From the Central station

Walk from Central Station to Archipelago Hostel Old Town
From the main entrance at the Central Station take right on Vasagatan go across the bridge (Vasabron) straight ahead to Stora Nygatan it take about 10 min

Subway
Take the subway one stop from Central station to Gamla Stan walk straight ahead to Stora Nygatan 38

From Skavsta Airport
All the flights have direct transfer bus to Central Station in Stockholm, its take 1 hour and 20 min.



From Arlanda Airport

Take the Arlanda bus (flygbussarna) to the Central Station its take 40 min.

The train Arlanda Express to the Central Station its take 20 min
