Covered Wagon Ranch is a family guest ranch that offers mountain riding for anyone's ability. We ride in Yellowstone Park, and Gallatin National Forest. We also provide overnight horse pack trip adventures in the Rocky Mountains. Guests can expect to see wildlife such as Elk, Moose, Deer, Eagles, possible Wolves, and Bears. We cater to all levels of riding ability, keep our groups very small and according to riding skills. We are definitely not a "nose to tail" operation. Our Ranch Manager, Jeremy Young, is a skilled horse clinician and teaches all levels of riding ability.
Guests will start their day with a healthy breakfast, while deciding on what type of ride or other activity they are interested in for the day. Half day rides, and all day rides are offered. Lunch will either be packed and eaten on the trail, or served in the lodge. All meals are eaten family style and are made hardy with love from the very talented ranch cook! No guest of the Covered Wagon Ranch will leave hungery!
Age range, type of group
We enjoy guests of all types! It never fails that each guest leaves our ranch with a new friend for life...just from visiting a week.Children as young as 6 are welcome to ride horses on trails. Younger children have plenty to do here as well. Our Kiddie Wrangler is here to play with the kids, teach them to ride, babysit, and participate with the children on various games and programs; short nature trails are easily accessible from your cabin; wildlife watching, horse watching, playing in the Taylor Fork River, the list is endless! For the bigger kids, we have a volleyball net, horseshoe pit, Recreation hall with Pool and Fusball.
Sleeping and meals
Each private cabin is cozy and rustic engulfing thier guests with nostalgic feelings of what it must have been like when these cabins were built.. They have maintained their historic nature but upgraded to very comfortable, aesthetic surroundings.A short walk to the main lodge seems neccessary for the amount of food consumed in one visit! Supper is our most elegant and family-like. Our ranch is famed by guests who have visited in the past and revered by employees of the ranch!
