Small group travel by bike is the ultimate way to immerse yourself in the culture, wildlife and landscapes of any destination, especially one as diverse as AFRICA, as scenic and dramatic as NEW ZEALAND or as culturaly rich as CHINA and TIBET. Escape Adventures is a small personal travel company with a passion for getting out and exploring new and exciting destinations around the world. Our trips focus on getting out and being a part of the culture and landscape that we are travelling in rather than just being a spectator. Our bike trips are fully vehicle supported so you get to experience the best of the local landscape, people, culture and wildlife with the comfort and security of a vehicle to carry all of your gear, or you if you need a break from the saddle.If you appreciate small group travel with personalized service and willingness to go the extra mile for your special trip, then Escape Adventures is for you. So come and share with us the experience of dining by the campfire, camping under the clear African sky or biking and walking with the people and wildlife of our amazing planet.

Typical Day

There is no 'typical day' on our trips becuase every day is different and unique. All of the riding is far from any busy roads or main tourist traffic routes. The riding terrain is all dirt roads, 4x4 tracks with a taste of single track so manageable for anyone with a good fitness level. Distances vary every day with a couple of 80 and 100km days leaving you feeling like you have achieved something, and some days just 30-60km to allow time to take in the local wildlife or people, chat to the children, visit local families and schools, or to just relax and take in where you are and what you are really doing!

Age range, type of group

The 'typical age' of our bikers again is not very typical. Most are in their 30's, 40's and 50's but there are always some outside this 'the typical' to break the rule! Our small groups (maximum 10) are made up of singles, couples, friends, familes... We generally prefer our bikers to be 14 years and above (although are happy to consider younger bikers if they are comfortable in adult company).

Sleeping and meals

Depending on which of our trips you join - your accommodation will be in guesthouses and lodges or if in Africa we provide spacious dome tents. We provide most of your meals which are prepared for you by your tour leaders. We do also visit some local café’s and restaurants along the way, to give you the opportunity to experience local cuisine. We most definitely are able to cater for vegetarians and special diets, and if this includes you, it is essential to advise us of this before your tour begins, so that the support vehicle can be stocked with the necessary supplies. An example of typical meals during a trip: Breakfast - Fresh fruit, cereal, toast, cooked breakfast on occasions, hot drinks. Lunch - Picnic style lunch, fresh salads, cold meats, cheese, fruit, nuts, bread etc.Evening - Good wholesome camp-cooked meals using as much local fresh produce as possible.
