Services Offered

Sea Kayaking:
Your stay at Bear Cover includes use of our recreational kayaks. Both single & double kayaks are available. Start your kayaking expedition from our sheltered beach. If you have not kayaked before, don’t worry, one of our staff members will give you instruction until you are ready to venture out on your own. Bear Cove is roughly three miles in length and one mile wide and offers many opportunities to get out and venture along the shoreline. More experienced kayakers will find great paddles outside of Bear Cove to the head Kachemak Bay. All paddlers are almost guaranteed to see wildlife during one of these outings.
Boating:
We have for your use two, three person row boats. We also offer sightseeing tours aboard one of our fleet vessels. Your host and personal guide Kendal shown in this photo.
Hiking:
Many private trails exist around and above Bear Cove. Due to deadfall many of the old trails are tough to navigate. Several have been groomed and you’ll find both family friendly walks and more adventurous paths. Along them, you’ll find so much to renew & invigorate your spirit. A detailed map outlining all trails is available for you in your private cabin.
Beachcombing:
Bear Cove offers miles of wonderful shoreline to explore. Marine and sea life are abundant and can be seen in one of the many tidal pools. The unique geologic structure also offers many interesting and photographic opportunities
Bird watching:
Many species of sea and shore birds as well as birds of prey inhabit Bear Cove. These species include puffin, loons, old squaw, mallard, cormorant, stellar jay, kingfisher, eagle, and falcon.
Wildlife Viewing:
Bear Cove has a wide variety of both marine and land animals. We have seen seal, sea lion, octopus, river otter, sea otter, porpoise, whale, lynx, wolf, moose, and bear. Early morning and late evening are the perfect time to have an opportunity of seeing or photographing the animals.
Sightseeing:
With your Bear Cove map & using the kayaks provided in your package, your may venture out on your own to find glaciers, the old School House, the old fox farms, even an old sail powered fishing vessel or Bear Cove Resort offers many sightseeing trips out of Bear Cove and the surrounding area. Each trip is customized just for you.
Clam digging or fishing:
The beaches of Bear Cove are rich with blue mussels, butter and steamer clams and the waters hold salmon and halibut. Buckets and rakes or poles are available from Bear Cove Resort. Enjoy these tasty morsels steamed over hot coals from the comfort of your private cabin deck.
