Typical Day
Peru ist nicht nur ein eigenartiges, sondern auch ein einzigartiges Land; es besteht aus drei völlig verschiedenen Gegenden: der Küste, einem langgezogenen, zwischen dem Meer und den hohen Anden gelegenen Streifen trockener, sandiger Erde, der hier und da, von sehr fruchtbaren, grünen Tälern durchbrochen wird; der Berggegend, bestehend aus den beiden Andenketten mit den 7.000m hohen Schneegipfeln und den weiten Hochebenen; und dem Urwalde mit seiner überwältigenden, saftiggrünen üppigen Vegetation.

1.) Die anspruchsvollen Kulturreisenden
Bei den anspruchsvollen Kulturreisenden handelt es sich um das Segment der jung gebliebenen Älteren. Zwei Drittel sind älter als 50 und die meisten haben einen hohen Bildungsabschluss. Anspruchsvolle Kulturreisende sind bestrebt, sich weiterzubilden und körperlich und geistig fit zu bleiben. Der Lebensstil ist geprägt von einem ausgesprochenen Interesse an Kultur und einem gewissen Engagement für sozial schlechter Gestellte. Diese Gruppe zeichnet sich durch Offenheit und Toleranz und die Ablehnung traditioneller Werte aus.
Im Urlaub genießen anspruchsvolle Kulturreisende kulturelle Vielfalt und wollen sie möglichst authentisch erleben. Dazu gehört die landestypische Küche, aber auch das Gespräch mit den Einheimischen, soweit möglich in der jeweiligen Sprache. Urlaub ist für diese Gruppe nicht Synonym für Erholung, sondern für neue Eindrücke und Wissenserweiterung. Dieser Typus zeigt großes Interesse für die Verhältnisse vor Ort. Seine Empathie, gekoppelt mit seiner gehobenen Bildung, macht ihn aufgeschlossen für Fragen der ökologischen und sozialen Gerechtigkeit.
2.) Die Natur- und Outdoor-Urlauber
Die Natur- und Outdoor-Urlauber haben einem leichten Trend zu mittleren und jüngeren Altersgruppen. Die meisten haben einen mittleren oder höheren Schulabschluss und sind berufstätig, viele verfügen über höhere Einkommen. Natur- und Outdoor-Urlauber zeigen kulturelles Interesse und soziales Engagement. Ihre Grundeinstellungen sind geprägt von starkem Verantwortungsbewusstsein für sich selbst und die Familie und sie sind sensibel gegenüber sozialen Fragen. Natur- und Outdoor-Urlauber interessieren sich zudem für den Zustand von Natur und Umwelt - allerdings unterscheiden sie sich deutlich von den "Ökos" der 70er und 80er Jahre. Sie zeigen vielmehr ein neues Ökologieverständnis, das von dem Wunsch dominiert wird, eine möglichst intakte und gesunde Umwelt zu genießen und für eigene Aktivitäten zu nutzen.
In den Ferien suchen sie authentische Erlebnisse in möglichst unberührter Natur. Sie sind durchaus bereit, dafür auch mehr Geld auszugeben. Diese Urlauber sind damit eine Zielgruppe für "bewusstes" Reisen: Eine unbelastete Umwelt akzeptieren sie als Voraussetzung für persönlichen Naturgenuss, Wohlbefinden und gesunde Ernährung. Die Zielgruppe ist im Urlaub zwar aktiver als andere Reisende, viele beschränken ihre Outdoor-Aktivitäten aber auf gemäßigte Formen wie Wandern, Fahrradtouren und Ausflüge. Erholen und Genießen in qualitativ hochwertiger Umgebung ist für die meisten außerdem genauso wichtig wie Aktivsein.

Alaska und Yukon Territory werden oft als ein Reiseziel angeboten, da man meist beide Gebiete auf einer Rundfahrt gut durchfahren kann.
