Activity/Tour

This new and special jungle expedition brings you to two of the most important and rich ecosystems of the Amazon. On this trip you will visit the Amazon River, the Negro River and their tributaries. You will see original Indian communities including the Satere Maue, Sahu Ape and Dessania tribes along the Ariau River. Their Tuchauas will introduce you to their tribes, and tell you about their myths, legends and rituals. You will live with the Indians, explore with them in the jungle among wildlife and exotic plants and learn how to survive like a man of the jungle.

Typical Day

Day 1:
The expedition starts at 07:30 hours (7:30 AM). We will sail in a regional boat or speed boat to the Rio Amazonas River to the Ipixuna indigenous community, passing the meeting of the waters (Rio Negro and Solimoes Rivers). Here you can try your luck fishing the biggest Amazon fish called the Arapaima, a true river monster. After that we will explore the flooded jungle areas (speciality Amazon Riders) and see the magnificent Victoria Regias. Here you will be able to see squirrel monkeys and try your luck fishing for Sardinas and Piranhas.

We will then take a small trek through the virgin jungle, where you can see sloths, parrots snakes, and alligators (caimans). At the end of the day we continue the expedition up the Rio Negro to the Araras Lake where we will prepare dinner (Piranhas and other fish caught earlier in the day) and spend the night under the stars on the boat in hammocks or in the native house (corote native house).

Day 2:
We continue our expedition to the Indian community called Sahu Ape, and visit the Sateré Maué Indians. Here we will ask the Tuxaua (Indian head) for permission to visit his village. The indians will show us their pharmacy of medical plants and jungle fruit plantations. After lunch with the Indians we will explore different ecosystems by canoe and observe capuchine monkeys, lizards (iguanas), exotic birds and plants.

We will spend the night in the indigenous community where the Indians will invite us to the mystic Tucandeira welcome ritual, iniciated by the Shaman (Indian doctor) of the Sahu Ape. Already being accepted as part of the community, we will sleep in native houses in hammocks protected by mosquito nets.

Day 3:
After breakfast and a sunrise tour in the indigenous canoes we will explore with Indian guides through their jungle, learn about medical plants and exotic insects and how to survive in the jungle.

In the afternoon we will continue our expedition in the regional boat to the mouth of the Aruau River, where we will see orquideias, parasite plants and in the night spot caimans. We will then spend the night on the regional boat.

Day 4:
We start the day off with breakfast in the Acajatuba Lake floating house where you can swim and play with pink dolphins. After lunch we will visit some natives in the region and see their manioc plantations and learn how they produce farinha from the manioc plants. We will spend the night in the San Tomé village in our small Amazon Riders Lodge. You will sleep in a small cabin equipped with beds and clean restrooms.

Day 5:
Today we will prepare our expedition for the deepest jungle and survival training yet. We bring all the equipment in the motor boat and navigate through small channels arriving in the heart of the the rain forest. Here we will make our camp equipped with a special plastic roof with hammocks and mosquit nets. Here we will sleep in the real jaguar territories, with an 80% chance of seeing those wild cats.

We will build our jungle camp in the style of the hunter, watch animals and learn how to hunt with a spear, and bow and arrow. The guides will show us how to track animal footprints and how to navigate back to the camp without a GPS. We will spend the night in the jungle and listen to the jaguars.

Day 6:
After a typical hunter breakfast we head out to the Anavilhanas Archipel where we will explore the islands, sandy river beaches and a variety of birds like Toucans. In the evening we reach the Yaraqui Narrow River and set up camp. This is the deepest jungle region but despite what you might think there are not mosquitoes. At night we will try to spot animals from canoe including snakes like Anacondas and Boa Constrictors. The Tamandua Bandeira region is also know to have ant eaters.

Day 7:
We sailing on the Rio Negro towards Manaus and visit the small Indian village of the Dessanas Indians near the Tupe ecological reserve. We will join in their indigenous dances and rituals and learn a little bit of their language. Lunch will be spent on the beautiful Tupe River beach. After having some caipirinhas we will arrive in Manaus around 18:00 hours (6:00 PM)

For the Anaconda Expedition good physical condition is required because it involves exhausting jungle treks (up to 5 hours) and building your own shelter on campgrounds.

Families with kids are welcome, but in a special exclusive crew for the safety and security of the familiy, we are so flexibles for take all the cares.

Sleeping and meals

Accommodations for sleeping include regional boats, camping in the jungle and our Jungle Lodge Base depending on the day.

Trip includes meals, accommodation, guide, transport, activities, and mineral water.

Policies & Restrictions

It is recommended that there is no smoking in the jungle ( walking and watching animals). Smoking can scare off the animals which can disturb the trip for non-smokers.
