Tradición Austral is located in a quiet residential area walking distance from the center of town, excellent restaurants, tour offices, and bus stations. The house is one of the best maintained colonial homes of Puerto Varas, featuring beautiful local hardwoods throughout. There 5 unique bedrooms on the second floor, each with its own personality, 4 with bathrooms en suite. There is a common lounge with TV and a computer at the top of the stairs. On the first floor there is a spacious reception area, den with a fireplace, living room with television, and a dining room where breakfast is served. All rooms have beautiful hardwood floors and paneling, beautiful wood furniture made by local craftsmen, original artwork and fine handicrafts. Guests rest blissfully, safe and comfortable, far from traffic and disturbing noise. The TA difference begins with top quality mattresses, linens, and warm down comforters in spotless rooms. Breakfast is also in a higher category, starting with fresh brewed coffee, free-range eggs as you like them, fresh seasonal fruits, homemade jams, local honey, fresh breads, cheese, etc. …as if breakfast were an important meal. There is private off street parking, free pickup within town for those arriving by bus, and airport transfers. Car rental can be arranged at the best possible rates with delivery and return at the BnB. Your hosts are committed to insuring that guests have the best possible experience in Chile and are eager to help them resolve any type of issue that may arise e.g. lost luggage, getting the best exchange rate, making reservations in Punta Arenas, etc. Recommendations are freely given on eating out and shopping among the handicraft vendors and artists' shops in town, as well as what is worth seeing and doing in the area. Only a few minutes walk to tour operator offices in town, TA is the perfect base for outdoors excursions of all types; rafting, fishing, biking, trekking, kayaking, bird watching, horseback riding, canopy, canyoning, and so on. A specialty of the house is guided fishing trips on local rivers.

Directions

If driving:
From the north, exit Ruta 5 and enter town on Gramado. Stay to the right where Gramado divides. Go left on San Francisco at the first stop light. Go through next light and continue as the street winds uphill just beyond Carabineros. The street is now Estacion. Continue to the railroad tracks, but do not cross them. On the left is Terraplen. Go half way down the block to the guesthouse

Go one block north of the plaza to Walker Martinez street. Heading away from the lake, go 5 blocks to Terraplen at the end of W. Martinez. Turn right and go 1/2 block to the guesthouse. Call us for a free transfer within Puerto Varas.
