Backpackers Manuel Antonio

Come and enjoy Backpackers Manuel Antonio now with our new bar, located right in the middle of Manuel Antonio (across the street from Manuel Antonio soccer field). The supermarket and liquor store are only 100 meters down the road and there is a bank/atm, pizzeria, cafes, fine dining as well as moderately priced restaurants, and some great bars, all within walking distance! We are set back from the road creating a very safe and laidback atmosphere, so come to relax and enjoy the open-air patio looking out onto the forest.

Coming to Quepos...

Travel to the area is easy and can be done in a number of different ways. Regularly scheduled air service is available through Sansa Airlines; the flight takes 20 minutes. It is a three and a half hour, or more, drive by car or bus from San José depending on the weather and traffic.

Direct buses leave from Coca Cola bus terminal in San José three times a day. These are large, comfortable Mercedes buses. (View our website to find the bus schedule.)

If you are renting a car, it is advisable to rent a 4X4 vehible if you are traveling to remote sections of Costa Rica like the Osa or Nicoya Peninsulas.


If you are in Quepos, the local bus runs from the Quepos bus station to Manuel Antonio every 20-30 minutes during the day and every hour after dark. The bus fare is 240 colones, about $0.50USD. Keep your eyes open for the Manuel Antonio football field. We´re right across the road (right-hand side) with a big sign--easy to find. Follow the arrow pointing down the stairs to get to reception.
