Situated in the center of the UNESCO designated historical town of Galle Fort , The Courtyard is one of the oldest Dutch buildings dating from the early 17th Century.



Galle Fort is a unique place with a charm of its own. Watch spectacular sunsets from the rampart walls… walk the historical streets of Peddler, Lighthouse and Church St … visit the local stores and museums. Surrounded by the Indian Ocean the Portuguese Fort was built over five hundred years ago.



The Courtyard is a tastefully renovated villa which retains the main building and features from its Dutch origins, as well as the original courtyard garden, a legacy from the English period.



The villa oozes colonial atmosphere with high ceilings, old fans, antique wooden doors and windows, with a touch of modern design and colour. With only five rooms, this villa is spacious yet intimate with highly individual designs that encapsulate the ambience of Galle past and present. The double bedrooms are air conditioned, en-suite and uniquely decorated. All rooms overlook the lush courtyard.



Meals can be enjoyed in the garden courtyard or at the 12-seater table in the dining room, where traditional Sri Lankan dishes, the house specialty, can be served for lunch or dinner.



Your stay will be made all the more pleasurable by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Affan and Uma, are an integral part of the local community and their family have lived in Galle for several generations. They will go out of their way to advice, organize and tailor your stay in the house and Sri Lanka .

They can arrange tours around the island, day trips to the beach and local attractions.



We recommend that our villa staff picks you up at the airport, which is about 140km from Galle .
