Description   Alaska Island Hostel - Petersburg

Alaska Island Hostel is a small, home-based hostel in Petersburg on Mitkof Island. We are a 15 minute walk from the town center, schools, harbor, stores, airport, the trails, and the Wrangell Narrows, museum and community swimming pool.

Travelers arrive in Petersburg by ferry, plane, kayak, and usually spend a few nights exploring the nature, culture and wildness of southeast Alaska Inside Passage.

CHECK-IN and OFFICE HOURS: 5 pm to 8 pm
CHECK-OUT: 10:45 am

OTHER CHECK-IN OPTIONS -because the ferries arrive at all times of day and night in southeast Alaska Inside Passage

5 PM to MIDNIGHT CHECK_IN is available by advance arrangements. This require that you:
..... check into the hostel immediately after your ferry arrives in Petersburg.
..... you provide us with the name of the ferry you are arriving on, the date the ferry is arriving, the time the ferry is arriving and where you are arriving from.

Mid-night to 5 am check-in is available by advance arrangements.
This require that you:
..... reserve and pay for the night before (date prior to mid-night)
..... check into the hostel immediately after your ferry arrives in Petersburg.
..... you provide us with the name of the ferry you are arriving on, the date the ferry is arriving, the time the ferry is arriving and where you are arriving from.

5 am to 5 pm: Sorry no check-in. There are outside lockers to store you gear in until you check-in between 5 pm and mid-night.

Directions

Travellers arrive by Alaska ferry, Interisland ferry, Alaska Airlines, boat or kayak. Since we are on an island you can't get here by road. Petersburg is at the north end of the Wrangell Narrow on Mitkof Island. You can't get here by road - only by air or water.

DIRECTIONS TO ALASKA ISLAND HOSTEL FROM THE PETERSBURG AIRPORT (1 km or .5 miles) - Head to town on Haugen Drive. Turn right on 8th, Go one block and turn right on Gjoa. Go to the end of the block and we are the last house on the left at 805 Gjoa St.
