Hutongren Culture Hostel is located in the South Luogu Lane (South Luogu Lane). After the vicissitude of over 800 years, the once grand and prosperous Yuandadu(capital of the Yuan Dynasty)has almost been buried under the ashes of history, except for the quadrangles in South Luogu Lane, which remain intact and continue to nurture numberless lives after going though the baptism of time.
Adjacent to the Forbidden City, South Luogu Lane has always been a major residence of imperial families, social celebrities and high officials. The Lane still keeps the original turtle-shell structure of the Yuan Dynasty where 16 Hutongs are symmetrically distributed. As the largest, the best-preserved and the highest-grade quadrangle cluster, 28 structures have been listed as protected heritage sites at states, municipal or district level. The buildings here kept so many details accumulated over their 800-year history, and have so many stories to tell. No wonder the site is called a living world of historical and cultural heritage by experts.
The hutongs here house many artistic venues, such as Central Academy of Drama and Run Run Shaw Theatre, thus making the South Luogu Lane a gathering place of intellectuals. In recent years, many bars, restaurants, specialty stores and artist's workshops have opened, attracting a large number of tourists from home and abroad, especially professional travelers and those who want to experience Beijing' leisure culture. You can have fun, meet friends, play, and look for relics and folk customs here, experience traditional and fashionable lifestyles, and feel traditional Beijing culture.
