Active Adventure

The rides can be exhilarating, relaxing, adventurous, defiant and stimulating or peaceful and tranquil. On-road but mostly off-road, on sand, gravel, stones, mud, water... You can ride in the desert or mountains, above or bellow sea level, at bellow zero or 50 degrees Centigrade. As part of a group or on your own. It really doesn't matter where or how you ride, the rides are always brilliant!

Typical Day

Sorry, but there are no typical days with us. Your riding days will always be different and will pretty much depend on the itinerary and route you have chosen. On some days wether you like it or not you may need to ride the whole day to reach your destination. Sometimes you may be able to choose a more or less difficult or more or less long route to reach the same destination. On some days you may incorporate sightseeing with riding or you can take whole days to rest and visit the sights or do some trekking.

Age range, type of group

On our tours we take individuals, couples, families and participants of all ages. If they don't know, don't want to or can't ride with us (minimum age to ride one of our bikes is 16 if accompanied by a responsible adult; otherwise 18) they may travel in the support vehicle and depending on the route and the rider's willingness even as passengers on the bike. So, feel free to bring your family or friends with you! As a curiosity the oldest rider we had in one of our tours was 74 and he went with us to Danakil! The heaviest was 155 Kg. The bike behaved awesomely and he loved the ride!

Sleeping and meals

As much as possible - depending on availability by the time the bookings are made and if you don't give us indications otherwise - we try to lodge participants in the best hotel accommodations of every night stop. When this is not possible we camp. In our all-inclusive packages accommodation is for double occupancy. Single occupancy incurs an extra charge. When camping we give one tent per person/couple. When camping and depending on the number of people the group has we take a helper and a cook in one of the support vehicles to help with luggage transport, preparation of camp site, etc. and cook on the camp site.

Policies & Restrictions

There are no age or gender restrictions to participate in our tours (We would love to have more women riders in our tours though!!). Minimum age to ride one of our bikes is 16 when accompanied by a responsible adult. Otherwise 18.

Rates

Tour rates depend on the type of package you choose: all-inclusive, semi-inclusive, bike only or bring your own bike.
All inclusive Tours include:
• Airport collection and drop-off
• Motorbike (KTM 640 and 690 LC4 Enduro or 525XC Desert Racing - no fuel), bike insurance against third parties and theft.
• Support car for luggage and passengers
• Expert multi-lingual tour leader and mechanical support
• Double occupancy accommodation (note: single occupancy incurs an extra-charge)
• Camping fees, camping equipment, preparation of campsite where no hotels are available. Every person/couple will have their own tent
• Restoration (dinner on arrival day, lunch on departure day, breakfast, lunch and dinner every other day). Beverages and snacks not included
• Entry fees to parks and other sites
• Local guides
• Satellite phone for use in case of emergency, GPS and medical kit.
• Luggage storage
• CD with photos of the trip
• Individual Tour T-shirt

Semi-inclusive tours include all of the above but no support car;
Bike only tours include only the itinerary, bike, the tour leader and mechanical support.

Other Information

We offer 5 calendar tours through the dry season in Ethiopia, from mid-September to mid-June and 1 calendar tour during the rainy season (mid-June to mid-September. Custom made tours are available throughout the year inclusive during the rainy season for some parts of the country. The maximum number of riders on any single trip is 6 to ensure the best possible care for every single rider. For tours we use KTM LC4 640/690 LC4 ENDURO and KTM 525 XC DESERT RACING. Our bikes are expertly maintained and thoroughly serviced after each ride. We are also KTM official importers, so trust us. You will have the best possible support you can get!
