Warm welcome to Nomad Guesthouse & Cafe. For 4 years now we have been crafting our Tibetan style residence in Shuhe old town into a place where people from all walks of life can find inspiration, healthy vegetarian food, rest and tailored information on how to explore and enjoy Lijiang and the surroundings. Simplicity, honesty and attention are shared values at Nomad.

Nomad Guesthouse and Cafe is a reincarnation of the Nomad Cafe in Lhasa, Tibet. We opened in Shuhe ancient town in 2007 with the vision to provide a warm, inspiring stay and healthy vegetarian food.

Nomad Guesthouse offers clean, comfortable rooms as well as budget accommodation (single, double/twin and triple rooms) for intrepid travelers, backpackers, cyclists and families alike in a quiet, loungy atmosphere. Bed sheets, linen and towels are provided and hot showers as well as drinking water are available all day. Smoking is prohibited in all rooms. Electric blankets and heaters make sure you will stay comfortable during the colder months of the year.

Nomad Cafe serves freshly-made vegetarian and vegan dishes as well as bakery sweets in a non-smoking environment, with our guests� well-being in mind. Family atmosphere can be experienced (and travel-info exchanged) by joining one of Nomad�s popular inexpensive shared buffets.

Nomad Staff in of international variety and eager to help you finding your way in and around Lijiang, and planning your trip to the highlights in the area. Laundry facilities are available and bicycles can be rented at Nomad. Both the court yard and the second floor terrace are peaceful places for reading, conversing, or just being. Our \'dhamma hall\' can be used for practicing meditation, or studying Buddhism by reading books from our collection on \'spirituality\'.

Besides making your stay most pleasant, helping those in need is what we care for at Nomad Guesthouse & Cafe. Therefore, proceeds from your patronage go towards supporting community-based projects.

Location

The village of Shuhe is located 6 kilometer north of Lijiang and still breathes those tranquil Naxi vibes that are in danger of being trampled by the crowds in Lijiang Old Town. A local fresh market, a small Tibetan monastery as well as an ATM are all within a few minutes walking distance from Nomad Guesthouse. Minibuses and taxi\'s depart for Lijiang from the parking lot just 50 meters from our door. The well known yet rustic village of Baisha is a pleasant 6 kilometer bike ride (or walk) through the fields north of Shuhe. We can show or accompany you on the trials in the hills (that start just 500 meter from the guesthouse) for an early morning hike.

From Lijiang Airport (飞机场)：

Shuttle busses (20 RMB per person) connect Lijiang airport with the town (35 km, about 50 minutes) and drop you off at the airport shuttle bus station at the Shangri-la Road. From there, cross the 4-lane road to the LikeLong Supermarket, directly opposite the shuttlebus station. Read "From LiKeLong Supermarket" on how to go on from here.
A taxi (or blue minibus) from the airport to Lijiang and Shuhe costs about 100 RMB. Either show the driver our address, or (let him) call us or directions.

From Lijiang train station (火车站):
ATTENTION: SITUATION TRAIN STATION CHANGED.

As of August 2011, the new Lijiang passenger train station opened. It is located a few kilometers south of town. The old station, which is located east of town, will be used for cargo only. A taxi from the new train station to our guesthouse in Shuhe (about 30 minutes), costs about 40 RMB. Information on how to reach Shuhe by public bus will be presented here soon.

By taxi
A taxi from the train station to Shuhe (about 30 minutes) costs 50 RMB. Alternatively, you can share a blue minibus (which transports 7 people) with other passengers for about 20 RMB p.p. Make sure you go to Shuhe however.

From The New Bus Station (新客运站/xin ke yun zhan; the big bus station south of Lijiang Old Town):
Take bus No.11 (1 RMB), which leaves just in front of the New Bus Station, and get off at the stop at LiKeLong Supermarket (丽客隆超市站) at the ShangriLa Road(香格里拉大道). Read "From LiKeLong Supermarket" on how to go on from here.

From The High Speed Bus Station (高快客运站/gao kuai ke yun zhan):
The High Speed Bus Station is located at the ShangriLa road. Cross this 4-lane road and walk back south (about 300 meters) in the direction of the traffic lights at the main crossroad. Just before the crossroad, you find the LikeLong Supermarket on your left. Read "From LiKeLong Supermarket" on how to go on from here.

Taxi (出租车)
You can take a taxi to Shuhe from anywhere in or around Lijiang (about 20 RMB) and show this note to the driver: 师傅，请送我去丽江束河古镇指挥部停车场前行50米的卓而吧小院好吗？谢谢（Please take me to the Nomad Guesthouse which is located 50 meters from the Old Parking Lot in Shuhe old town. Thank you.）Asking the driver to call us is a safe way to make sure you get there.

From LiKeLong Supermarket (丽客隆超市站), ShangriLa Road (香格里拉大道)
All blue minibuses at the parking lot next to the LiKeLong Supermarket go to Shuhe (2 RMB p.p.; they depart when full). They run from about 7:00 until 21:00. The ride to Shuhe, 6 km, takes about 10 minutes. Don't get off at the main gate, but a few minutes (about 400 meter) later, at the old parking lot, which is the final stop. Turn left, passing an empty ticket boot, and after 50 meter the red and yellow buildings of Nomad Guesthouse are meter on your right.
You can show the minibus driver this note: 师傅，我想在束河古镇指挥部停车场下车，到了请提醒我好吗，非常感谢 (please inform me when we arrived at the Old Parking Lot in Shuhe old town. Thank you).

Occasionally, the driver refuses to go further than the main gate and orders everyone to get off. In that case, do not enter the main gate, but follow the cobblestone street (and other traffic / people) on your right hand that is leading north. After about 200 meter, turn left and immediately right. Take the first turn left. After 50 meter, Nomad is on your right hand side.

NO tickets are needed to visit / enter Shuhe. If anyone at any gate tries to make you pay for a 50 RMB entrance ticket, refuse and ask for police, or call our guesthouse.

Public buses（公交车）

Bus no. 11 (1 RMB) runs all the way up the ShangriLa Road, which connects Lijiang with Shuhe. Get of at the roundabout at the end of this main 4 lane road and turn left (the bus turns right). Continue walking for about 15 minutes and you come to the main gate of Shuhe. Do not enter the gate, but follow the cobblestone street (and other traffic / people) on your right hand that is leading north. After about 200 meter, turn left and immediately right. Take the first turn left. After 50 meter, Nomad is on your right hand side.

Bus no 5 is reported to have passed Shuhe (main gate) as well, but since we do not have accurate information yet, we cannot advise you to get on this bus.
