OVERVIEW

'Chateau de Cautine is like stepping straight into a film' as one of our guests put it. Full of original antiques, cosy furnishings, sleigh beds, huge open fireplaces it has a 15-metre salt-water pool, 34 acres of fields and woods and its own stream. It's great for both kids and adults to roam around in.

Every room has its own atmosphere and they have all been recently refurbished with new curtains and cushions combining beautifully with the original furniture of the chateau, the antique sleigh beds and lots of Persian rugs to create a real feeling of cosiness and charm.

All the rooms are centrally heated and very cosy in the winter..... and in the summer, very cool, as the walls of this ancient chateau are many feet thick and the windows open on both sides of the house enabling cooling breezes to blow right through the house.

Located near the medieval town of Argentat on the Dordogne river, 75 minutes and 130kms south of Limoges, Chateau de Cautine nestles amongst the rolling hills, forests and lakes of the eastern Dordogne region.


ACTIVITIES

We can guarantee to set your pulse racing or relax you with our activities from €10 each. We have teamed up with one of the top activities companies in France which means you will be in the hands of experienced professionals, and can choose from extreme or gentle sports, with or without instruction whether you are a beginner or a professional.

Activities can be added on once you have booked: Abseiling and rock climbing, archery, bungy trampolining, canoeing & kayaking, fishing, hangliding, horse riding, mountain biking, mushroom picking, nature activities, a river barge journey, tree climbing or walking in the Dordogne...


MEALS

Guests can choose whether to take our meals service for the whole duration of their stay, for just a few select meals or not at all.

Our catering service for breakfast starts at 7 Euros per person. Lunch and dinner are from 9 Euros per person, delivered by our local restaurant who provide a wonderful range of regional cuisine & daily special to let you explore the culinary delights of this part of France.
Either self-catering or all-inclusive or something in between...we will combine it for you and your budget.

Directions

BY CAR
=============================
You can hire a car at the airport and we will send you detailed directions on how to get to the chateau from there. It will take approximately 1.5 - 2 hours drive from any airport listed to Chateau de Cautine and the roads are excellent with very little traffic.

BY TAXI, TRAIN OR BUS
=============================
Catch a taxi from the airport to stations (Limoges, Rodez, Bergerac or Toulouse) and from there, go by train to Brive. From Brive, you can catch a bus to St Privat - we can pick you up from there as it is 5 minutes from the chateau.

BY TRAIN
=============================
If you enjoy travelling by train, Brive is just 4 hours from Paris-Austerlitz, which coupled with the Eurostar service from London Waterloo to Paris Gare du Nord means you can travel from London to Brive in around 8 hours. For those wanting a more relaxed drive, motor rail runs from Calais to Brive from May to October- put your car on the train in Calais on Friday evening, spend the night in a cabin on the train, and wake up in Brive the next morning, just 45 minutes drive from our chateau!
