Hotel El Sol is a Japanese family-owned and run hotel in Panajachel. We offer comfortable and safe lodging for families or backpackers who travel to Lake Atitlan in Guatemala.
Our hotel is unique for the services we offer. As a family run hotel we do our best to inform guests about local activities and places of interest to visit.
All floors have a lounge with comfortable furniture for reading or watching a movie from our dvd-library. Relax in our restaurant enjoying a special meal, visit our indoor bar, sunbathe in the garden or enjoy the view of the lake and surrounding mountains on the hotel\'s roof-terrace.

Lake Atitlan is world renowned for its beauty, the three volcanoes and the misty blue water unfolds one of the world\'s most scenic lake views. Panajachel is one of the 12 villages that surround this magical location in the heart of the Mayan highlands. The Mayan population around the lake have their own traditions and offer healings, mayan-ceremonies, and guided tours to visitors. You can visit most villages easiest by public boats (in 15-30 min.) and enjoy a local restaurant, ziplines, horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, hiking, mountain climbing, volcano climbing, paragliding and painting or weaving classes for example.

In Panajachel you can learn Spanish in one of the many school that are available, visit the archeological museum, indigenous market, the lake-boulevard or the \'Santander\', the main center for shopping, dining and nightlife. Panajachel is the central hub of Lake Atitlan. You will find all mayor Guatemalan banks here, ATM machines, supermarkets, doctors, travel agencies and restaurants. Panajachel is a good base for exploring other parts of the country because of its central location in Guatemala. We can assist you in booking trips to visit Chichicastenango, Antigua, Tikal, Monterrico, Copán (Honduras), and many other Mayan or colonial sites in and around Guatemala.

Hotel El Sol offers great lodging for reasonable prices. We have a dormitory with a capacity for 8 persons and single, double and triple rooms are available. All rooms include a television and their private bathroom with hot shower.
We offer special rates per week and per month.
Room rates include 22% tax, breakfast is not included.
Check out time is 13:00 pm and the check in time around 15:00 pm.

Please cross the bridge (Puente de Amistad), and advance 500m on the road to Santa Catarina Palopó when you come to Panajachel.
