Ponsonby Backpackers is perfectly located in one of the most historical, funky and central areas of Auckland. We are a small & friendly little travellers haven, run by backpackers for backpackers. Our managers and staff have travelled extensively and so know what it is that travellers want and desire; a place to call home.
We invite our fellow travellers to relax in our tv lounge (Sky TV), surf our fast internet (desktop & WiFi, chargeable) or have a BBQ in our sunny outdoor area. Enjoy the cleanliness and serenity of a small family atmosphere with various activities weekly.
Our facilities boast 4 bathrooms with hot showers 24 hours a day, comfortable lounge room, dining room, laundry and well equipped kitchen with free tea and coffee. Full linen is also provided.

You have two options from the Airport, Both can be found outside the arrivals lounge, and both run 24hrs.
First option is the Airbus (Blue bus) is aprox $16, this will take you into the city (Britomart) and then you will get the inner link bus (Green bus) $1.90 (Operates 7am-11pm) bus stop located on Customs St East; Get off at bus stop Pember Reeves St, walk around the corner to us at the top of Franklin Rd.
Then second option is the super shuttle which will bring you straight to our door. Cost $36 for 1 passenger and then $8 per additional passenger.
We can book the super shuttle for you and put the cost onto your room bill. We just require full flight details.
If you are already in the city a 1.5km walk to Franklin rd or the inner link bus (Green bus) $1.90 (Operates 7am-11pm) to Ponsonby R, the stop you will want is Pember Reeves St.
By car travelling north: 2 minutes off the southern motorway, take the Nelson st exit .
By car travelling south: 2 minutes off the northern motorway , take the Herne Bay/Ponsonby exit
