Hawley's Gingerbread House

ACCOMMODATION

Hawley's Gingerbread House is the only boutique backpacker in Devonport, on the first floor of a heritage weatherboard mansion, built in 1885, Accommodating a maximum of 12 guests each night, you are guaranteed a good night's sleep!

The three guest rooms sleep a maximum 4 guests, and feature beautiful gothic arched leadlight windows which overlook the sandstone courtyards and gardens below.
There is a kitchenette with microwave, kettle, toaster, snack oven & fridge - This is NOT a full kitchen, as fire & heritage regulations will not allow any more facilities upstairs.
There is a full sized gas barbecue outside the restaurant kitchen - tools and other pieces of equipment can be borrowed at request. and TV common room.

Access is ONLY via the fire escape staircase at the rear of the building - this is only suitable for able bodied persons.

LOCATION

Located right beside the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in East Devonport, the Gingerbread House is the best place to start and finish your Tasmanian adventure if you are going on or coming off the ferry. The East Devonport village has a supermarket, pub, post office, laundry, pizza shop and newsagency. The Devonport city centre is on the other side of the Mersey River, which is best accessed by the little ferry (200 metres walk, $2.5 fare).

RESTAURANT

The ground floor Gingerbread Cafe offers inexpensive quality snacks and meals and a great vibe. Backpacker menu specials are offered exclusively to guests, including a 10% discount on all food and drinks.

Directions

The Spirit of Tasmania ferry from Melbourne docks 100 metres down the street. Tasmania's Redline and Tiger bus companies drop passengers at the ferry terminal, from all Tasmanian destinations several times a day.

Location 5 minutes from Devonport Airport and 1 hour from Launceston
