Saxa Vord Hostel

Saxa Vord's Sergeants' Mess Hostel is much more than a hostel - indeed it is more akin to a university hall of residence in style.

Designed with lovers of the great outdoors in mind, it is warm and comfortable and has everything that you need to relax after a day's exploration, including a bar selling delicious bar meals just down the corridor.

The main hostel is situated in the former Sergeants' Mess and has large, bright rooms, most of which are single-occupancy.

Our hostel guests have access a bar and restaurant which has a relaxing atmosphere, where you are served by our caring staff. Our bar serves a diverse range of products, including the locally brewed Valhalla Beer range. Our restaurant freshly prepares all meals using locally sourced produce. Hostel guests also have a laundry facility on-site where service washes are provided. Saxa Vord Resort is a large complex which also comprises of 18 self-catering houses, snooker facilities and a chocolate factory on site.

Directions

Saxa Vord is based on Unst, the most northerly Isle in Scotland. It takes roughly 2 hours to reach Unst from mainlanad Shetland, with buses leaving twice a day. There are two inter-island ferries that take you up to Unst, each ferry takes around 15mins. Once at Unst there are clear sign posts for Saxa Vord Resort taking you towards Norwick. Once at Saxa Vord there are signs that will direct you into the reception area.
