This old beautifully renovated, village house, located above and “in” the vineyard is constructed of traditional stone, 50 cm (20 inch) thick walls and originally built mid-20th century. It is located in the hills above the village of Upper Gokcobel ; previously a Greek village called "Dirmil", and translated as 1 mile to the sea. It is 5 minutes from Yalikavak and less than 20 minutes to Bodrum city.

This cottage is an unusual situation as it is landlocked. Guests must drive to my house 120 meters or yards above, park and then walk down the path, through the olive and fig trees, to the cottage. My man Friday will help with baggage and help you with your food shopping and all sorts of things like this. The cottage is on a 3000-meter plot of land and surrounded by nature, birds, eagles, cows, fields, etc. There is a beautiful view of the Aegean Sea and the antique hills nearby where once a Carian Castle stood 3000 years ago. The hills in full view, are filled with ancient Roman catacombs which you can explore.

Inside the house there is a Living Room which doubles as the bedroom when you open the sofa couch. The bed is a large double size. There is a TV and Stereo. The room is decorated with antiques. The kitchenette is small but adequate. There is a 3 burner gas stove and a fridge and most kitchen equipment you might need.

Hot water is fed to the kitchen as well as the bathroom. There is a PBX telephone where you can make local calls or internal calls to our house or to Mehmet when you need him.

The pool is actually the original water depot , supplied by the well, for the mandarin garden that was once there. The depot was renovated and made into an immersion pool, fed by well water flowing from an old amphora. There is ample sun bathing space next to the pool.

In 2002 we planted 550 grape vines of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz , Muscat , Merlot and Barbera. If you come in the season, the vineyard, in all its glory, is exceptionally pleasing.

This is a house to use as a base for exploring the area around Bodrum or for simply relaxing. If you need to get away from it all.................you have found your dream.

We also have other very unique properties including a Village House, a Farm House and a very high quality large stone house called the Yaghane. All have private pools and all have car parking spaces next to the houses. Please inquire.

Forty minutes from Bodrum-Milas International Airport . Direct charter flights to many cities in Europe/ daily commercial flights from Istanbul . Greek Islands of Kos 15 minutes and Rhodes 2 hours away by daily ferry. Scores of ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine excavations available for day trips. Center for "Blue Voyage" yacht trips on the Turkish coast. Bodrum (Halicarnas), is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

Vacation Rental Property

The location on the North side of the Peninsula affords cool breezes. The house has an extensive patio where one can relax or have a slow meal while taking in the views. The patio not only has 2 chaise lounge chairs but there is also an antique table and four chairs for dining. The patio is partially shaded by an old wild oak tree.
Besides the main room there is a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower supplied by hot water from a solar panel.
The kitchen is small but adequate and has a gas 4 burner, small fridge and everything you need to cook and eat with.

Sleeps & # of Bedrooms

This is a small house the size of a 35 meter square studio. One main room with pull out queen size bed. All linen and towels provided.

Amenities

One enters the main door to the living room. This has a working fireplace and a "sedir" or traditional divan type of seating that one uses during the day for comfortable seating then it easily extends at night to form a queen size bed. All linens included. This room is fitted with Turkish antiques and a marvelous antique wooden carved ceiling that came from an old demolished village house elsewhere in the area. Good lighting, shelf space, etc. A Stereo CD player sits on the shelf.
The house also has a satelite TV receiver and monitor

There is a completely new bathroom with sink, shower and toilet. Hot water throughout.

Kitchenette with stove-top, mini fridge, utensils and dishes, glasses, cups. Basically, if you need something, within reason, we will get it for you.

Traditional Turkish water fountain next to the patio as well as extensive seating areas.

The traditional water depot, supplied with water by one of the most beautiful wells in the area has been transformed into a fantastic swimming or dipping pool and the water enters the pool through an old amphora.

The garden may have seasonal vegetables and herbs available to guests.
