Surrounding Area

The Blue Mountains is a city within a world heritage National park. Boasting amazing views of the National park from various look outs, Katoomba is located at the top of the Blue Mountains, close to places such as Scenic world and Echo Point – home to the world famous Three Sisters.

A relatively quiet mountain town, Katoomba is home to a range of boutique shops and some of the best dining west of Sydney.

It is also a short distance from many look outs, walking trails, climbing areas and canyons.

A train line runs through the centre of town making it easy to get to from Sydney.

Accommodations

The Blue Mountains Backpacker Hostel is a hostel with a range of accommodation. It contains 31 different rooms ranging from small dorms (4-6 beds) to larger dorms (8-12 beds), family rooms, double rooms, trio rooms and twin rooms.
All rooms contain beds, lockers for storage, and a TV. There are shared bathroom facilities both upstairs and downstairs for those who have rooms without an ensuite.
The hostel contains a spacious common room with Austar, fireplace, pool table and air hockey, dining tables and comfortable couches.
There is a large kitchen set up with all new kitchen facilities, fridges, gas stoves and ovens and a dishwasher.
There are outdoor smoking/BBQ areas both upstairs and downstairs.
All rooms are non-smoking and bedding and linen is supplied.

Small dorm rooms are 4-6 beds

Larger dorm rooms are 5-12 beds

Double Rooms contain comfortable double beds, TV in room, bedding, linen and towels provided

Trio Rooms contain comfortable trio bunks, TV in room, bedding, linen, and towels provided. A trio can sleep 2-3 people.

Double with Ensuite contains ensuite with shower, comfortable double beds, TV in room, bedding, linen and towels provided

Family Rooms range from 6 to 8 beds, most are ensuited.

By Car
From Sydney, take the M4 Motorway. It takes 1 hour and 40 minutes. Distance 107 km. Exit off Great Western Highway & cross over bridge above train line. Turn at first roundabout and you will see the building.


By Rail
Catch an hourly train from Central Station Sydney. It takes two hours. We are the closest hostel to Katoomba Railway Station - only 250 Metres away
