Juneau Sport Fishing and Wildlife Charters
Competive rates for a quarter of a million dollar boat, why spend more when you can travel in a boat desinged for fishing built for the open ocean that if the water gets ruff the other boats will follow. Delux accomodation in a 34 footer that allow room for 6 to sit and enjoy a 360 view from the enclousier or down to the cabin and enjoy central heating, a walk in head with regular flush head, a sink with hot and cold fresh water and a locking door, room for six to sit in comfort,grab lunch at the kitchen table. Our fishing cockpit offer a 13 foot beam, large enough for 6 Halibut fishermen to have their own rods, walk through transom door, swim platform, walk around decks, trolling valves, 4 electric down riggers, and a large live bait well,

Typical Day

We fish out of Auke Bay, 12 miles from down town Juneau, about 30 mins from the crusie ship dock. We offer transport form downtown and the valley to our dock and return if needed for a additonal charge. We also offer a stop at the Mendenhall Glacier. We go where the fish are or where the Whales and wildlife are. We normally travel a hour to get to the fishing grounds or where the Wales are. We do run out to Icy Stright on our days trips and we can provide over night charters, muti day charters or we can re locate our boat to the town your staying at to provide you with your desired charter needs.

Age range, type of group

We are restricted to a max of 6 pepple on the boat, one captain and one deck hand. It does not matter the age, one month old or 110 years old, we can not take more than 6. Young children do get bored with fishing and ifs its slow they don't have anything to do, we recomend a shorter charter if you have small children. We very seldom have sea sick people but it does happen, we are in the inside waters so we don't get swell but it gets ruff when the wind blows.

Sleeping and meals

We have sleeping accmodations for 4, two bunks and one v berth. We provide coffee and treats in the morning, bottled water, variety of soda pop, snackes, candy and a lunch is provided on our 6 and 8 hour charters.

Policies & Restrictions

Children under 13 are required to wear life jackets while they are on the boat at all times. The USCG can and will board the boat and issure us a ticket if anyone under 13 does not comply, so if your child does not comply we may cancel the charter and return back to the dock. no refund will be made. All person fishing are required to have a valid Alaska fishing license 16 and older. We sell the fishing licenses on the boat for cash.We not sell or provide alcohol on the boat but your welcome to bring it with you. Smoking is allowed in the back of the boat in the open fishing area unless others object. If its illeagal on land its illeagal on the boat, no drugs allowed or pot smoking, charter will be terminated and clients returned to the dock, no refund and the police will be notified as well as the USCG.
We can accmondate Handicapped people, its is difficult for them to use the head as it is down stairs, any wheel chair is restricted to the aft section,fishing area, so they need to wear rain gear.

Rates

We require a deposit to hold your resrvation refundalbe up to 30 days before your charter or if canceled due to weather.

Whale watching is 3 hours for $155.00 per person, 1 to 3 person min. is $500.00
Salmon charters 4 hour is $200.00 1 to 3 person min. is $600.00, 6 hour charter is $235.00 per person 1 to 3 person is $800.00, 8 hour or all day.
Halibut or Combo Halibut Salmon 4 hour is $235.00 per person 1 to 3 is $700.00, 6 hour is $250.00 per person 1 to 3 min is $900.00 and our all day or 8 hour charter is $325.00 per pserson 1 to 3 min. is $1,200.00.
When fishing Icy Stright we only do that area on all day charters. Bait and fishing equipment are provided along with cleaning of fish. Procesor is avilable for extra charges.

Discounts Offered

Grutudities are shared with the captain and crew

we offer a 10% discount for May and September charters, if you do multi day charters we offer 10% off on the 2nd day, 20% on the 3rd or more days. We will do over night trips to Icy Stright for additonal $400.00 ( two hours of fuel at cruise speed 50 gallons). We give discounts for returning past clients of 10%. We charge our normal rates for other cities plus the cost of fuel for us to get there and back to our base in Auke Bay.

Captain Mike now runs HOT ROD, a 2000 Luhrs 34 foot express sport fisherman out of Fisherman's Bend Marina offering Halibut, Salmon and Wildlife Charters. Captain Mike opperated a 48 yachtfisher from the Vancouver, B.C. area from 1990 to 2000, 60 Pilot House Motor Yacht from Ketchikan to Juneau area from 2000 to 2010 and currently the Luhrs Express 320 out of Auke Bay, Alaska. Captain Mike is in Juneau from May to October and in Los Barriles, BCS, Mexico, from November to April fsihing for Marlin, Tuna, Dorado and other species. Captain Mike has been fishing for Salmon/Haliubt in the Pacific North West for 23 years and fishing Mexico for 33 years, if your looking for someone with experance you will find it with Captain Mike
