Barrow Lodge Bed and Breakfast Carlow is a recently renovated bed and breakfast home, resurrected from the remains of the Flyboat Hotel which in times past was a well known riverside hostelry owned by ancestors of George Bernard Shaw. It is now owned and run by the Pender family, George, Mary, Danielle and Rosie.

Barrow Lodge is ideally situated for touring the south east of Ireland and walking the Barrow Navigation.

Barrow Lodge is situated in the Centre of Carlow Town. We provide Bed and Breakfast accommodation. There are 25 bars, many restaurants, nightclubs etc. within 10 minute walk of Barrow Lodge.

Policies & Restrictions

Barrow Lodge is a no smoking property. To comply with recent Smoking Legislation regrettably we have to ask our customers to smoke in the garden. We are unable to cater for hen parties or stag groups.

Double room: €70.00 per couple inclusive of breakfast and tax.

Single room: €40.00 - €45.00 per person inclusive of breakfast and tax.

Twin room: €35.00 per person inclusive of breakfast and tax.

Family room: €90.00 - €100.00 per room inclusive of breakfast.

At the outskirts of Carlow Town:

1. Leave the M9 motorway at Junction 4, Carlow North and drive towards Carlow Town. Go straight through 2 roundabouts at outskirts of Carlow. Darcy’s Furniture Store and Merck Sharp and Dohme will your landmark at the first one and Boland’s Garage and Supermacs at the second.

2. At the next roundabouts (2 together) Braun will be your landmark, drive straight through.

3. Keep driving straight until you come to your first set of traffic lights. Drive straight through.

4. At the next set of traffic lights turn right. Superquinn will be on your right hand side.

5. Drive straight through the next roundabout.

6. Drive straight through the next set of traffic lights. Carlow Post Office will be on your right hand side at the lights.

7. Keep driving until you see Domino’s Pizza on your right hand side. When you do, indicate right.

8. When you get to the junction (4 buildings after Domino’s) Barrow Lodge will be on your right hand side beside Unicare Pharmacy.

From Portlaoise:

When you arrive in Carlow Town:

1. At the first roundabout, drive straight through towards Graiguecullen and Carlow Town Centre.

2. Follow the road until you come to traffic lights. At the traffic lights turn left.

3. Drive straight, over Graiguecullen Bridge.

5. Keep left as Barrow Lodge is the fourth building after the Bridge beside Unicare Pharmacy. Turn sharp left into Barrow Lodge. Parking is in front of the house.



From Waterford:

When you arrive in Carlow Town:

1. At the first set of traffic lights keep left into Burrin Street.

2. At the next set of traffic lights turn left. Carlow Post Office will be on the right hand side of the crossroads.

3. Keep driving until you see Domino’s Pizza on your right hand side. When you do, indicate right.

4. When you get to the junction (4 buildings after Domino’s) Barrow Lodge will be on your right hand side beside Unicare Pharmacy.



From Wexford:

When you arrive in Carlow Town:

1. Drive straight through the first roundabout at Lidl.

2. Drive straight through smaller roundabouts, towards the town centre until you come to traffic lights. Turn left at traffic lights.

3. At the next set of traffic lights turn right. Superquinn will be on your right hand side.

4. Drive straight through the next roundabout.

5. Drive straight through the next set of traffic lights. Carlow Post Office will be on your right hand side at the lights.

6. Keep driving until you see Domino’s Pizza on your right hand side. When you do, indicate right.

From Carlow Bus Stop

When you arrive in Carlow Town:
1.Cross the road. As it is a 4 cross road, Carlow Shopping Centre should be on your right hand side and a few smaller units, bridal shop, dry cleaners etc. on your left hand side.
2.Keep walking straight through the roundabout at McDonalds and on to the traffic lights. At the traffic lights, Carlow Post office will be on your right hand side.
3.Keep walking straight, past Denoz Bar and McSiul's bar on your right hand side and Rocca's Takeaway on your left hand side.
4.Keep walking straight, past Dominos and at Corcoran's Bar on your left hand side and Unicare Pharmacy on your right hand side take a sharp right hand turn.
5.Barrow Lodge will be straight in front of you.
