Located in Central Virginia we are close to the James River (two blocks), hiking and biking trails (4 blocks) downtown (six blocks) and much more. The area is rich in history. The arts community is large and active. If you are interested in antiques we can point you in the right direction. The only year round sking slope in the US is just 15 minutes away. The Civil War ended at Appomattox Courthouse about 20 minutes from us and Thomas Jefferson's summer home is close by.

The Carriage House inn bed and breakfast, the award winning bed and breakfast in Lynchburg, Virginia is located within walking distance to historic downtown Lynchburg.

The charm, grace and hospitality of the original Watts family and their grand home has been retained by the current owners, Kathy and Michael Bedsworth during their four year restoration of the mansion. The home is a treasure trove, rich with architectural detail including many of the original fireplaces (9), mantels, light fixtures, moldings, intricately carved woodwork, doors, bath tubs and sinks.

The four guest rooms in the circa 1878 Italianate mansion are oversized and well appointed to include fine linens, fluffy towels, comfy robes and slippers. Colors throughout the house are representative of colors of the late 1800s.

While staying here you will find the atmosphere to be warm and inviting. Guests staying at The Carriage House Inn Bed and Breakfast can enjoy the mansion much as it was back in the 1800s with some updates such as shower enclosures in the baths, central air and heat and wi-fi.

Are rooms are huge and tastefully decorated. Each room has a private bath, many with the original fixtures that have been restored.

Amenities

We have off street parking, wi-fi, a business office for copies, faxing, scanning and much more. Downtown restaurants are a short drive or walking distance (10-15 minutes). Hiking and biking trails are three blocks away or take a leisurely tub ride down the James River.

Services Offered

Our on-site massage and body works studio offers an array of treatments to choose from. We have a meeting and event center for business meetings, showers, small weddings, quilting parties, birthday parties or whatever else you can think of.

Policies & Restrictions

Sorry there are no pets or smoking permitted. Children over 14 are welcome and younger ones on a case by case basis. We are gay friendly. We require a 14 day notice to cancel your reservation.

Rates & Availability

Rates for rooms in the mansion are $179.00 per night Sunday-Thursday and slightly more on the weekends. In the carriage house rooms are $199.00 per night and $219.00 on weekends. Special weekends rates may be higher and/or may require a multiple night stay. Call for details.

Directions

Please check our website for up to date directions. If you rely on a GPS to get you here, you may be taken on a long detour to get here. Google directions sometimes directs you to roads that have been closed for decades. If you get lost give us a call from the road and we will help you.
