Surrounding Area

Our neighborhood location overlooks Richmond's historic Monument Avenue. Within walking distance are great restaurants and shopping, such as in Carytown, and museums, including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Virginia Historical Society, the Virginia Center for Architecture, and the Virginia Science Museum. We are central to the city, convenient to Richmond's downtown, its two Universities, and many historic and cultural attractions.

Accommodations

Guests entering Maury Place are struck by the 12 foot ceilings and classical architecture. The house is a historical treasure, with most of its original moldings, flooring, and doors, and with many original fixtures. The furnishings are refreshingly modern. Outside in front is a large porch facing Monument Avenue, and in the back is our pool and garden area.

Rooms/Suites

The Pathfinder Suite, with 600 square feet, features king bed, luxury shower and separate tub, huge private balcony overlooking Monument Avenue, working fireplace, desk, sitting area, and HD flat screen TV. Fontaine Suite, with 465 square feet, features a queen bed, working fireplace, separate sitting room, two HD flat screen TV's, desk, and lots of sunlight. Addie's suite overlooks our pool and garden, featuring a full bed, working fireplace, heated tile floor in the bathroom, and a HD flat screen TV. Belmont features twin beds, a balcony overlooking our pool and gardens, heated tile floor in the bathroom, and HD flatscreen TV.

Amenities

Upon request we provide a free pass to Gold Gym (2 miles away), and Monument Avenue is perfect for running or a stroll. We are walking distance from great restaurants and shopping, as well as local museums. We offer free wifi throughout the property.

We feature in-room massage as an add-on for two of our rooms, Fontaine and Pathfinder.

By Car:

From the North:

•Take I-95 South to Exit 79, “195 South/to Powhite Parkway.”
•Stay in the left lane and immediately exit left to “195 South/Powhite Parkway.”
•Merge into the right lane, and take the first exit, “Broad Street/Hamilton Street.”
•At the end of the exit ramp, turn right to merge onto Hamilton Street.
•Proceed in the center lane to the stoplight at Broad Street.
•Cross Broad Street and proceed to the next stoplight at Monument Avenue.
•Turn left on to Monument Avenue.
•Take the fourth right on to Cleveland Street.
•Proceed to the stop sign at Cleveland and West Franklin Streets.
•Turn left on to West Franklin Street.
•You will see Maury Place, 3101 West Franklin Street, on the right on the corner of West Franklin and Belmont Streets.
•To park, turn right on Belmont Street along side Maury Place, take the next right and you will see our off-street parking directly behind Maury Place.

From the South:

•Take I-95 North to Exit 74-A, “Downtown Expressway/I-195.”
•You will proceed on a “spaghetti-like” ramp through Downtown Richmond.
•Stay left and follow the signs for the Downtown Expressway.
•You will come to a toll plaza for a toll of 50 cents.
•After proceeding through the toll plaza, merge to the right.
•Follow signs “I-195 North to I-64 and I-95, Charlottesville/Washington.”
•Take the “Patterson Avenue/Grove Avenue” exit to the right.
•At the end of the exit ramp, proceed to the left to the “Yield” sign at Thompson Street.
•Merge left on to Thompson Street.
•After the third stoplight, take the second right on to West Franklin Street.
•Proceed on West Franklin Street to the fifth right at Belmont Street.
•You will see Maury Place on your right at 3101 West Franklin Street and the Maury Statue on your left.
•To park, turn right on to Belmont Street along side Maury Place, take the next right and you will see our off-street parking directly behind Maury Place.

From the West:

•Take I-64 East to Exit 186, “I-195 South, Laburnum Avenue To Powhite Parkway.”
•Follow the signage to merge onto I-195 South/Downtown Expressway.
•As you merge onto I-195 South, get in the right lane.
•Take the “Broad Street/Hamilton Street” exit.
•At the end of the exit ramp, turn right to merge onto Hamilton Street.
•Proceed in the center lane to the stoplight at Broad Street.
•Cross Broad Street and proceed to the next stoplight at Monument Avenue.
•Turn left on to Monument Avenue.
•Take the fourth right on to Cleveland Street.
•Proceed to the stop sign at Cleveland and West Franklin Streets.
•Turn left on to West Franklin Street.
•You will see Maury Place, 3101 West Franklin Street, on the right on the corner of West Franklin and Belmont Streets.
•To park, turn right on to Belmont Street along side Maury Place, take the next right and you will see our off-street parking directly behind Maury Place.

From the East (also from Richmond International Airport):

•Take I-64 West, and as you approach Downtown Richmond, stay to the right, remaining on I-64 West
•Follow signage “I-64 West/I-95 North to Charlottesville/ Washington.”
•Take Exit 79, “I-64 West/ I-195 South To Powhite Parkway/ Charlottesville.”
•Stay in the left lane as you exit and immediately take Exit 186 to the left, “I-195 South/Powhite Parkway.”
•Merge into the right lane and take the next exit, “Broad Street/Hamilton Street.”
•At the end of the exit ramp, turn right to merge onto Hamilton Street.
•Proceed in the center lane to the stoplight at Broad Street.
•Cross Broad Street and proceed to the next stoplight at Monument Avenue.
•Turn left on to Monument Avenue
•Take the fourth right on to Cleveland Street.
•Proceed to the stop sign at Cleveland and West Franklin Streets.
•Turn left on to West Franklin Street.
•You will see Maury Place, 3101 West Franklin, on the right on the corner of West Franklin and Belmont Streets.
•To park, turn right on to Belmont Street along side Maury Place, take the next right and you will see our off-street parking directly behind Maury Place.

Parking: Free private off-street parking directly behind Maury Place is provided for all of our guests. The parking is located off of the alley behind Maury Place between Belmont and Cleveland Streets. Limited garage parking is available for an additional fee at guest request.

By Plane: We are about a 20-minute drive from the Richmond International Airport, which is served by AirTran, American, Continental, Delta, JetBlue, Northwest, Skybus, United, and US Airways. From the Richmond International Airport, follow the directions above “From the East.” We are approximately a 2-hour drive from Dulles International or Reagan International airports in Washington, D.C.

By Train: We are about at 10-minute drive from the Richmond Amtrak Station on Staples Mill Road. From that train station:

•Turn left on Staples Mill Road as you exit the station parking lot.
•Proceed through 12 stoplights (approximately 3 miles) on Staples Mill Road to Monument Avenue.
•Turn left on to Monument Avenue.
•Go through 5 stoplights.
•After fifth stoplight, take the second right on to Cleveland Street.
•Proceed to the stop sign at Cleveland and West Franklin Streets.
•Turn left on to West Franklin.
•You will see Maury Place, 3101 West Franklin, on the right on the corner of West Franklin and Belmont Streets.
•To park, turn right on to Belmont Street along side Maury Place, take the first right and you will see our off-street parking directly behind Maury Place.

Richmond is centrally located on Amtrak lines from Miami to New York, from Charlotte to New York, and from Newport News to Boston. Travel between downtown Washington, D.C. and Richmond by Amtrak is convenient and accessible.
