Surrounding Area

Port Hood is a small community of less than a thousand persons. The RV park is community-owned and operated. The Chestico Museum, the Glenora Distillery (North America's only single malt distillery), and the Celtic Music Interpretative Centre are located close by, as is the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. Port Hood Island is located just off of the coast. Our many beaches are the warmest in Atlantic Canda.

RV Park

Sunset Sands has 55 full-service RV sites, twelve with 50 amp service. Wireless Internet access is complimentary. We also have 20 unserviced tenting sites and camping cabins. There are washrooms, showers and a laundromat in the park. Satellite TV is available for an additional charge. There is a meeting room available for rent for group functions. A grocery store, LIquor Store, gas station are all nearby.

Rooms/Cabins

Stay in one of our on site rental Rv's for a couple of nights or spend a whole week, a great getaway with all ammeneties. Just minutes from beautiful beaches or a heated salt water pool.

New this year we are adding camping cabins. An economical alternative, the camping experience without sleeping in a tent. Bring everything you would need if you were tenting, except you are sleeping in one of our rustic cabins.

Amenities

Customers have free access to a salt-water swimming pool, a kiddies pool, and a hot tub. A fitness club is available for a nominal charge across the road from the park.

Pets are welcome providing they are under the control of their owners at all times.

Directions

From the Canso Causeway, Highway 104, take Route 19 (Ceilidh Trail) from Port Hastings. Sunset Sands is located in Port Hood, approximately a 30 minute drive up Route 19. The Ceilidh Trail is an alternate and very scenic approach to the world famous Cabot Trail.
