Surrounding Area

Cable Nature Lodge is perched on a spruce covered hill overlooking forest and wetlands teaming with birds and other wildlife. The premier location on 22 acres in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest offers easy access to the many outdoor recreational opportunities available to you in this beautiful corner of Wisconsin. At the same time terrific dining, shops, art galleries, and other civilized pleasures are located just minutes away.

From the front door of the lodge a short stroll will bring you to the peaceful shores of North Twin Lake, a natural lake in the national forest untouched by jet skis and speed boats. Just a mile down the road you’ll find the Rock Lake hiking and ski trail, along with a trailhead for the Midwest’s renowned CAMBA off-road bike trail system. Less than two miles in the other direction lies a lovely little park at the headwaters of the Namakagon River, one of the first federally designated Wild and Scenic Rivers in the country, and well known for great fishing and canoeing. Hiking, biking, canoeing, golfing, fishing, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling " name your favorite outdoor adventure and you’ll likely find it within a short walk or drive of Cable Nature Lodge.
