
Skweeks House is a great location to explore Kingston & the 1000 Islands from. One of the newest buildings in historic Sydenham Ward, it was built in the early 1950's as a three unit apartment building. Walk, bike, drive, ski, skate, kayak or sail there's history, shopping, entertainment and scenery in all directions.
Skweeks House is:
-within easy walking distance of downtown Kingston, the tourist information office, city bus transfer point, Queen's University, Lake Ontario.
-a short walk to departure points for: 1000 Islands cruises, Haunted Walks (tours), Confederation Tour Trolley
-a short bus ride (or a longish walk) to: FORT HENRY historic site.

Skweeks House guests are encouraged to explore Kingston's active night life with in walking distance. Sample locally brewed beer at the 'Brew Pub' or Ontario wines at local night spots. Check out the range of entertainment in the theatres, cinemas and restaurants.
Skweeks House is a family oriented building (with pets). A place for restful rejuvenation after a busy day of work or play. A piano is central in the shared common room, a guest computer is provided, but no television. Books, puzzles, games, quiet socializing often pot luck style meals fill the evenings.
Reservations suggested as Skweeks House is small, with only 3 rooms and seven beds.
CHECK IN 6-8pm (or by arrangement) Other times there is often no staff on duty.
Skweeks House is dragon friendly but must request that there be no smoking in the building or on the property in order to keep smoke from being drawn into the rooms.

Directions
From bus terminal or train station:
by City Bus ($2.25) You will need exact bus fare as the drivers are not allowed to give change. City bus drivers are very friendly, tell them you are going downtown to Bagot St at City Park. Walk one block towards the traffic lights on West St and you will be at Wellington St. On the right at the end of the first block is Skweeks House.
by Taxi ($12-$15) Taxi drivers are friendly and helpful, tell them you are going to 15 Wellington St at the corner of Lower Union St. (Skweeks House is not a major landmark and they may not know the location unless you can give them the address.)
From airport:

The most direct route: Take the Divison St south (exit 617) from 401. Go south (into town) on Division St until it ends at Union St. Turn left. One block later Union St becomes Court St, continue on block on Court St. Turn right at the next corner, West St. Two blocks later turn left on Wellington St. Skweeks House is the last building on the right in the first block.
Please note that the historic downtown area is prone to frequent detours due to special events and construction. The scenic route avoids this problem (mostly).
Scenic route from the east: Take Hwy 15 south (exit 623) from 401. At the end of Hwy 15, go right on Hwy 2. Historic Barriefield is on your right. As you continue down the hill you will be able to see Fort Henry on the left behind you on the hill. The Royal Miltary College is at the bottom of the hill. After crossing the lift bridge you will be on Ontario St. Continuing straight on, Fort Frontenac is on your left, followed by the Wolfe Island ferry dock. Two blocks more and City Hall is on your right. The tourist information centre is on the left. Two blocks more and on the left are the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes, The Alexander Henry Museum Boat, The Pump House Steam Museum. Ontario St takes a right turn, at the lights crosses King St and the next right turn is Wellington St. Skweeks House is the last building on the right in the first block.
